About

I blend traditional and modern techniques to make products from Russian Olive trees

Ultimately, the idea of starting a business making products out of Russian Olive started in August 2015, when I was preparing to move to Cleveland, Ohio. I was driving around the southeastern part of Billings, Montana and saw a few Russian Olive trees growing on the side of the road. I was already aware of the trees being an invasive species at the time, and it wouldn't have been the first time I considered the possibility of making something out of them, rather than continuing to pursue my then-current goal of becoming a bowyer (good bow wood is not exactly common here, which was one of the reasons I was moving). I said to myself "If this move to Cleveland doesn't work out, I'll start a business making stuff out of Russian Olive". Well, long story short, the move got called off because of some car issues (protip: don't mix up inch-pounds and foot-pounds when tightening intake manifold bolts, and also don't put the wrong sized bolt in the hole and accidentally bust a push-rod) , and well, here I am.

It's been 3 years since then. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but I made it through them and I am so happy I get to wake up every morning and do this for a living.

I hope when you buy something from me, you'll be able to see my passion reflected in the quality of each of my products.

I've always enjoyed working with my hands, and I've been working with wood in some way, shape, or form since I was a teenager. It's no surprise that I found myself doing it for a living.
