About SailsandStories

Sales 69
On Etsy since 2016

Our upcycled sailcloth accessories are born out of a passion for sailing and the stories told at the bar

Our hand-crafted upcycled sailcloth pocket squares, napkin sets, bookmarks and other accessories are made to immortalise those sailing memories and steer you on great adventures.

We only use old sails, mainly spinnakers (it's the sailing equivalent to silk!). These are sails that have been exposed to the elements, blown by the wind, sailed hard, raced hard, cruised into the sunset, battled winter storms and drifted on the summer breeze.

Each collection is a limited edition of unique, individual pieces created from one sail, embodying the spirit of the wind and each telling their own sailing story.

Each Pocket Square is approximately 12" square.
Each Table Napkin is approximately 12" square.
Each Cocktail Napkin is approximately 6" square.

All our items are lovingly hand made by us while we dream of sailing.

Care instructions

Hand wash only is recommended or machine wash at low temperature.

Your Pocket Square or Napkins will dry quickly due to the nature of the cloth, just hang on a radiator or leave it floating in the breeze and it'll be dry soon.

If ironing, do so on a low or medium heat through a towel or similar.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Our Pocket Squares come mounted on card and sealed in plastic envelope before being shipped to you.

Our Napkins are rolled and tied with luff rope from the spinnaker they were cut from with a reef knot and sealed in plastic envelope before being shipped to you.

Are they really from actual sails?

Yes, every pocket square and napkin comes from an old, loved, used sail exposed to all the elements.

Are all Pocket Squares the same?

No, every pocket square is different and every collection is made from a single sail. Pocket Squares may contain seams, patches and other original sail features.

Is there branding on the Pocket Square?

Yes, currently there is a stamped logo in one corner. We'd love feedback from you as to whether you like this or not, get in touch.

When folding your pocket square in a more informal ruff style, be aware the logo may show (that may or may not be a good thing depending on your style)

How should I wear my Pocket Square?

Any way you like!

There's lots of information on the web and we will be bringing folding and style guides to you soon.

Our favourite ways of wearing include square, triangle, multi-triangle and ruff.

Let us know how you wear yours!

What to do when I 1st get my Pocket Square...

Due to the way the Pocket Squares are packaged, you may want to press or iron your pocket square before you wear it.

If ironing, do so on a low or medium heat through a towel or similar.

Can I iron my Pocket Square?

If you need to iron your Pocket Square, do so on a low or medium heat through a towel or similar.

How do I store my Pocket Square?

If you aren't storing your new Pocket Square on the presentation card, then we recommend that you either store flat or roll the Pocket Square. Both these methods seem to reduce creasing and look great.
