Welcome to Sally Gould Wright's Studio for art quilts, mixed media and fiber art.
I have been a quilter for almost 10 years, beginning with more traditional patterns, which gradually evolved into smaller wall hangings using varied techniques to capture a subject. My interest is mostly in the natural world and my work is mostly pictorial using a variety of techniques including piecing, applique', free motion threadwork, fabric paints, beading and close free motion quilting. I am addicted to color in all its variations.
My work has been exhibited in galleries, at national quilt shows including AQS Paducah and Nashville, Road to California, Pacific International Quilt Festival and International Quilt Festival Houston as well as art quilt exhibits through SAQA and others nationwide.
For more information on me and my work check out my website at www.sallygouldwright.com/and my blog at www.sallygouldwright.blogspot.com

About sallyquilts
Sally Gould Wright creates colorful, detailed imaginative art quilts and wall hangings.
I am a textile artist living and working in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. Like many of us I began as a traditional quilter, but I soon moved into the realm of art quilts.
I prefer to indulge my passion for intense color, line and texture in pieces that can be viewed as art for the wall rather than on the bed. My background in the fine and decorative arts and my love for the natural world including my beautiful state of California inspire subjects which range from architecture to still life to landscape."
Techniques
Raw edged and turned machine applique' are used to turn a photograph or drawn cartoon into a textile image
Painting with textile paints and inks heightens color, adds realism, light and shadow
Free motion Machine Quilting and thread painting with very fine silk or polyester threads adds detail, dimension and texture
Digital Imagery using the computer, ipad or in some cases cell phone photographs is used to create detail, drawings and digitally printed fabrics.
Embellishments - hand beading and yarn couching add complexity, sparkle and more texture.
