Announcement   Original paintings, fluid paintings, geometric paintings and fine art giclee prints that are modern, contemporary, joyful, full of life, bold color and movement. Some have representational elements and some are fully abstract.

I have many painting techniques that I have developed though the years. My fluid acrylic pour paintings evolve spontaneously and are filled with tiny details that need to be seen close-up, so I take a lot of close-up photos. My geometrics have a cubist sensibility and a strong graphic element with gradated colors that form a harmonious whole. My textured paintings grew out my interest in mid-century color field expressionist painting. They all have a very imposing presence in person.

My spirituality and my interest in the eternal nature of life drive all my creative endeavors. You can see this in many of my paintings and their titles.

My art has evolved in a very interesting ways through many years of art-making. Hundreds of my paintings hang in homes and businesses all around the world. My paintings have been published in several brochures and publications for symposiums and other academic events. This usually comes about because my image evokes something related to the spirit of the endeavor. Often people in business will want one of my images as inspiration in the workplace, often involving themes such as creativity, a positive forward-looking spirit, a new beginning. One of my paintings was used for the cover of a college textbook. My paintings played a role in the 2007 movie "Universal Signs" in which the leading man was a painter.

I maintain a private studio in our home in Pennsylvania, USA. Selling online provides me with a great amount of freedom and allows me to keep my prices very affordable. It also provides me the creative and artistic freedom that is necessary to produce the art that is uniquely mine.

About

Original Abstract Acrylic Paintings and Fine Art Giclee Prints

Thank you so much for stopping by! I've been selling my original paintings and prints online since 2002. I'm a full time self-employed artist from Pennsylvania, USA. I sell my original paintings and canvas giclee prints online-only, directly to my collectors.

I work in acrylic and oil on canvas. My poured paintings are very fluid and free. My geometric paintings are very lively with suggestions of cubism. Some paintings are very textured and some are smooth. All original paintings are on cotton canvas which is gallery wrapped around wooden stretcher bars. I paint the sides, apply multiple coats of varnish to the whole painting and wire the backs so you can hang your paintings right out of the box.

A bit of my history: When I was very young, my mother took a correspondence course in art history. From Michelangelo to Dali, those big color plates and books full of prints had an enormous impact on my young mind. It was the middle of the 20th century and I was captivated by Modernism. I learned that I could draw well and had a strong desire to be an artist.

As an adult, I studied Fine Art at Bucks County Community College and graduated with honors. I was influenced by the late art historian Hafez Chehab, by his love for modern art, his enthusiasm for beautiful compositions, harmonious colors, lively brushwork. He encouraged me to pursue my abstract painting. I was also influenced by the sculptures of Bernie Mangiaracina, and served an apprenticeship in bronze casting with Bernie. My work is still informed by his Brancusi-like, elegant curving sculptural forms. I took courses and workshops at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, including portraiture, color theory and colorfield abstraction.

I focused on commissioned portraiture for many years because I thought that was what real artists did, but my true love was always abstraction. In 1999 I had a health thing that caused me to re-evaluate what I was doing with my life and my art. From that point forward, I followed my passion to create abstract paintings that are rooted in 20th century modernism, the art that inspired me as a child.

In 2000-2004 I showed my abstracts locally in the Philadelphia and New York areas, including the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Annual, and the Bowery Gallery in Chelsea. In 2005 I made the decision to show my paintings online only. This provides tremendous artistic freedom and allows me to stay at home in my private studio, which gives me great comfort and joy.

My paintings have been featured on book covers and brochures, and played a role in the movie “Universal Signs” in which the leading man is an artist. Today my inspiration comes from the sheer joy of painting and, as time goes by, is more and more connected to my spirituality.

Thank you very much. Please write with questions.

What is a Canvas Giclee Print?

Giclee prints start with a very high resolution digital image made directly from the original painting. I create the images myself, and I spend a lot of time working on my images in order to make excellent prints. I have them professionally printed on machines that have a wide color range and use archival quality pigment inks.

Giclee prints will last a lifetime and beyond, but as with all fine art, please keep them away from direct sunlight.

Your prints will ship directly to you from my printers international facilities. See above for the locations, and please write with any questions.

Giclee prints are custom ordered, made to order and are purchased from me, an individual artist (not a company) and are therefore not returnable.

Made-to-Order Paintings

I offer many made-to-order geometric paintings; these will be very similar to the original paintings shown, but each painting will have some variations in colors, brushwork and textures.

I create an in-progress web page for you and update it with pictures of your painting as it develops, and always send finished pics for you before shipping. I usually have multiple painting commissions in my queue at any time. Current approximate completion time for a made-to-order painting is 6-8 weeks. Thank you.

What is the difference between original paintings and prints?

My original paintings are hand painted with acrylic paint or mixed media on stretched canvas and have textures from the paint. The sides are either painted black or have the painting continued around the sides.

A giclee print is made with archival quality inks printed on canvas and stretched around stretcher bars, in the same way that an original painting is stretched around stretcher bars. I have the image mirror-wrapped around the sides. The texture is just the fine canvas weave with no paint brushstrokes, so it's pretty smooth but it looks very much like the original painting. My prints are made from high resolution digital photograph of my original paintings. My prints also come ready to hang.

Can I return my print?

My prints are made to order and are custom ordered from my printers, so I am not able to accept returns for these custom ordered prints. For prints that have been damaged or are defective, a replacement will be ordered at no cost to the buyer. The buyer will be required to provide photos of the damage or defect. Please write me if you have any questions about this, thank you.
