About

Saltons Cove Studio - the long journey to here

Becoming Saltons Cove Studio was a long and challenging journey, but it has made me who I am today and for that I thankful.

I have been artistic since I was a little girl, drawing "save the whales" illustrations on our family bus shelter in chalk. My parents have always encouraged my creative endeavours, buying me art supplies to work with and cameras to take photos of the things I wanted to sketch.

When I was fourteen, my little brother passed away and I lost my passion for everything. Grief took over and my parents and I spent quite some time simply going through the motions of life.

I didn't pick up my artwork anymore until I was twenty-four. That year, my husband's work moved us across the country and his hours meant I spent alot of time on my own with our oldest son. I decided to start scrapbooking to distract myself from being away from Newfoundland and my parents. And slowly but surely, I dabbled a little into doodling, sketching and watercoloring again, but I didn't dive back in deep again until we moved back to Newfoundland a little over two years ago.

It took alot of courage for me to start creating pieces of artwork again and even then, I hoarded them and hid them for quite awhile before finally showing my art to my husband and my parents. Once I took that step, I started sharing my work with other people and finally, last year I decided to open my shop.

The name of my shop, Saltons Cove Studio, comes from the cove near my childhood home. The actual spelling of the name is "Saultons" but one of the tangible things I have left of my brother is a letter he wrote to me asking me to take him to Saltons Cove to play. So I decided to use his version of the spelling.

These days, I feel so blessed that I get to create almost every single day and that there are people who are inspired by my work.

Payment
Accepted Methods of Payment:

I accept PayPal as a method of payment.

PayPal:

If you would like to pay with a credit or debit card, choose the PayPal option in checkout. PayPal is a third party credit card processor that keeps all of your transaction information secure. You do not need your own PayPal account to use the service.

Custom Orders:

Please be aware that payment is required for custom orders at time of order. Your item will be created in a timely manner (you will be given an expected order processing timeline when you inquire) and will be shipped as soon as it is completed, with a notice of shipping sent to you by email.

Cancellation Policy:

Your order can be cancelled in the 24 hours after it is placed. After that time frame has passed, it is likely that your order will have already been shipped and you would then follow the return policy.

Cancellation of custom orders will be determined on an individual basis. If you have ordered a personalized item and the personalization has already been completed, you will be refunded 50% of your payment. If you have requested a customized item that I might be able to offer for sale in my shop, then I will allow cancellation of the order prior to shipping.
Shipping
All items (except custom orders) will be shipped within three business days of purchase.
Please note that I am located in a remote location in Eastern Canada and shipping to the United States and overseas can take up to three weeks.
If you are pressed for time, please convo me and I would be happy to offer additional shipping rates and options.
Items are insured for shipping and proof of shipment is available upon request. Canada Post does not provide tracking numbers for small packages.
Any customs/taxes/duties due upon receipt of the item are the responsibility of the buyer. Unless you are purchasing the item and shipping it directly to another person as a gift, no packages will be marked as 'gift' or undervalued on the customs form.
Refunds and Exchanges
I take great pride and care in my work and I strive to make my item descriptions very accurate so that you know exactly what you are purchasing. However, if you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason please notify me by email, send the piece back in good/unused condition within 7 days, and I will refund your purchase price & original shipping fee. However, I will not refund the price of return shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom Orders:

I do offer the option of placing a custom order for artwork and I keep a large stock of canvases and materials on hand so I am ready to work on your item immediately. If you wish to order a custom piece, please contact me before ordering so that I can give you an estimated turnaround timeframe.
Please note that while I do take custom orders, every piece of artwork I create is created with my style and process. For example, if you want a piece with a daffodil as the focal image, expect it to have a textured, mixed media flair. You can also order re-creations of some of my past pieces, or a re-creation of an item currently for sale in my shop with a change to the text or personalization.
Please see my cancellation policy for information on cancellation of a custom order.

If you are ordering several items, I will refund any overage in the shipping & handling amount.

All of my artwork is created and stored in a smoke free environment and sealed with acrylic sealer for protection. However, my studio is dog friendly - I usually create with my two overgrown puppies lying at my feet for company.
