I am absolutely in ❤️ with these earrings. They are beautiful!!! This is my second purchase from this shop and I will definitely be purchasing more. My first purchase was one of the full moon bracelets & I absolutely ❤️ it as well. Shipped faster then expected. Highly recommend.

Awesome! I wanted a few sets to give as gifts & Nicole was quick to respond & even let me okay the sets before she sent them. The hair ties themselves are pretty genius. I constantly have an extra hair tie on my arm, & these definitely look/feel better than my usual dollar store elastics, plus I never lose them because they're actually nice.

An art degree, a dead-end job and a creative escape.
I graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in drawing. I was 21 and ready to take on the art world. After countless job interviews I was finally hired as a gallery assistant for a non-profit artist run centre in Calgary. I was over the moon! There were only two problems: 1 - it was only a summer job and 2 - the pay was awful. During school I had worked at a bar, and because the pay was so low at the gallery, I ended up staying on after graduation as well. The internship ended and I was left working at the bar. Time passed and I ended up being promoted internally three times. By the end of it, I was the assistant manager and working 50-60 hours a week. Now, to be fair the bar wasn't exactly a "dead-end job". It paid the bills and I actually enjoyed my colleagues. But there was no room to be creative - and as a creative person, that felt like a dead end to me.
I had taken some jewelry courses during my degree and while it wasn't my major, I had really fallen in love with it. I had an etsy shop already open from back when I was a fairly unsuccessful vintage seller. I re-vamped it, added my own jewelry and Salt Water Tea was born. Salt Water Tea started out as an escape from my job, but it quickly grew too big to manage work and my business. The choice was crystal clear! I quit my job 11 short months after opening my shop. I brought Salt Water Tea to markets, pitched wholesale to shops and eventually opened my own web store as well, and was able to make a living being creative!
Fast forward to today - Februray 15, 2016. I've just partnered up with two amazing business women (Pam from Crafted and Amelia from Mint & Daisy) and opened Greater Goods Boutique and Tea Bar. Our store celebrates artists, creators and small business people - we sell exclusively handmade or locally designed products, hand-blended teas, baked goods from a local baker and even coffee roasted right here in the city by two very passionate dudes! I'm also a founder of YYC Girl Gang - a Calgary based entrepreneur-networking organization. We blog, we feature and we hold Girl Gang Hangs where speakers speak and entrepreneurs meet.
I'm grateful every day for how far my "side-business" has come. The handmade community was so accepting and empowering and I honestly credit all my success to the support I received from other artists and customers. So, thank you, Etsy customer! Thank you so much for your supportive comments, your "likes" and "follows", your purchases and kind words. I literally couldn't have done it without you.
Nicole graduated from ACAD with a BFA (with distinction!) in 2013. She loves all things creative and when not making jewelry you can find her with a set of knitting needles in hand. She's a proud founder of YYC Girl Gang and and even prouder dog mom.
My name is Nicole Bracey, I am a contemporary artist in Calgary, AB. I have a BFA in drawing, and a passion for jewellery making. I make everything at home, in my YYC apartment that I share with my dog, Shyla. I make a great attempt to purchase the majority of my supplies and crystals from local businesses and artisans.
My work is inspired by nature; gemstones are an amazing gift given to us by nature. I am honoured to be able to utilize these gifts in my practice.
My mission is to provide you with unique, handmade jewelry that you can feel good about.
