About

Morgan Buckert Custom Leather builds custom boots and timeless leathergoods

Morgan Buckert resides in Hailey, Idaho. She has moved far from her home on a ranch in South Texas, but is influenced by traditional Western themes in her leather work.

She's done a little bit of everything since leaving Goliad, Texas. Morgan has B.A.s in Government and History from The University of Texas at Austin, and a M.A. in History from The University of New Mexico. She moved to Idaho in 2005 to work for The Nature Conservancy at Silver Creek Preserve. A three-month internship turned into a permanent stay. She has worked as a fly-fishing guide and in non-profits, and currently works for The Nature Conservancy.

In 2009, Morgan returned to craft, first working with textiles before beginning leather work and shoemaking. She attended Penland School of Crafts in 2013 and 2014. Idaho Commission on the Arts has awarded her with four grants and is participating in the 2017-2018 Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program with master Seth Teichert, in MacKay.

Morgan builds custom cowboy boots, shoes, sandals, and leather goods in her Hailey, Idaho, workshop. From baby moccasins to portfolios, and fashion sandals to cowboy boots, Morgan creates each item by hand. She starts with custom patterns, and the highest quality leather, to create the perfectly fit shoe, or an accessory built to last a lifetime.

Morgan is happy to discuss custom boots and projects--she's always up for a challenge.

Thanks for shopping! I make leather accessories for every day life as well as custom shoes and leather goods for clients.

Morgan Buckert creates hand-crafted shoes and leather goods. Her upbringing on a ranch in South Texas continues to influence her today and brings a traditional Western element to her work. She works with leather because of the longevity of the product and the versatility of the material. Morgan makes shoes and leather goods employing traditional techniques such as welting and hand stitching and controls the medium through her hands, meaning each piece is loved and sweat over, is unique, and meant to last a lifetime.
