    About

If you dream in color, you have to live in color.

I was trained to be a graphic designer, but I learned, too late, that it was a desk job! I couldn't sit still all day. Somehow I was led into textiles and found happiness standing up to work!

And the colors! I wanted to wrap myself in my creations and you can't really do that with paper. So I put my work on fabric and now I can wear it and so can you. You'll see some of the work I still do on paper and canvas, but my heart is with being wrapped up in silk. And now you can wrap yourself in colorful silk, too.

I lay my white fabrics flat on my worktable and paint them with big brushes, using the dyes like watercolors. I also silk screen patterns on the fabrics with resist to get more layers of pattern. Sometimes, I paint them with fabric paints after the dyes.

After the fabrics are washed out and ironed, they get cut and sewn into scarves and garments. I make all my scarves from yardage. There are no scarf blanks out there in the fabrics I use, so you can only find them at my Esty store.

The designs are my original creations, too. I hope they make my customers feel like dancing.

    Welcome to SandraSilk.

I make everything by hand in the studio. I care about the quality of the garment and the fabric it is made from. Many of these styles are generous or stretchy and fit many body types. If you have special needs for fit, please consult with me.
My great pleasure is when our customers are happy in their new clothes. I will do everything possible to make that happen. These fine fabrics are easy to care for. Most can be hand washed and ironed. Some can go in the washing machine. The particulars are noted with every item.

I am responsible for all the artwork. I hate to be bored, so I am always making work of some kind. The art is first and last. In between, I have to get dressed, so I make silk for us to wear.

I welcome custom orders. I work on many fabrics and in many colors. Please contact me with your inquiries. I am happy to customize sizes for you. Wedding parties are one of my specialties.

All of these fabrics are colorfast for wearing and washing. I use industry standard fiber reactive dyes. The hand (softness) of the fabric is unchanged.

I do not recommend dry cleaning because it degrades the silk fibers. However, all of these fabrics are colorfast for dry cleaning.
