from clicking to carving

I have literally tried every type of art that I've come in contact with, and printmaking was something that I tried that really stuck. I originally was curious about printmaking because I was drawn to it's hands-on nature. As a designer, I design a lot of really cool things, but usually it is all done with the click of the mouse. Carving into wood or linoleum is really rewarding for me, and the ability to make multiple prints that are all unique in their own way is really fun.

Lately with my prints, I've been working on compositions and juxtapositions that are a little more random. I've also been developing a love for repeat pattern which is starting to emerge in my prints. I'm dreaming up some mixed media elements to add into my new prints as well. Who knows what will be next!

Hello! Thanks for checking out my Etsy shop.

Everything you see here was dreamed up, designed, and printed by me, Sara Schalliol-Hodge. All of my prints have been made by my two hands- no presses of any kind- just my hands, a brayer, and a baren. My ideas can come from anywhere, but all of my printing happens in my kitchen in Anchorage, Alaska.

Some of my prints are open-editions and some are limited edition. Check the listing descriptions for the details on each individual print.
