When I moved the metal for the first time
My love of metalsmithing began in 2006 when I first forged a piece of sterling wire with a hammer. I was obsessed with learning as much as I could about making jewelry from that point. I read every book I could get my hand on.
In High School I wanted to learn how to make jewelry, but the only option that I could see was trade school training for a bench jeweler. My father wanted us all to have a formal education, so I studied classical singing. (I know another very practical field).
I had wanted to leave an adjunct teaching position to spend more time with my newborn son, and calculated that I just needed to earn a few hundred dollars a month to be able to stay at home with him. So I took a leap of faith and hit the ground running. I sold my jewelry in home shows, churches, and began my etsy shop in 2007.
I joined Etsy Metal and made many great friends in that group. I owe them for all the advice and encouragement they have given to me. I learned how to take pictures with my canon elph, market my stuff, and make things that sell so that I can afford to do the art I love to do.
The next year I was a featured artist on etsy and my sales exploded over the next year. I have been working around the clock to manage my business since 2006. I still love making jewelry. Being in the studio helps me connect my racing mind with my body.

Sara Westermark
Owner, Maker, Designer
As a self taught metalsmith, I make jewelry that I want to wear everyday. My father, a painter and antique dealer, taught me that I could do anything if worked hard enough. I am formally trained as a classical singer and I teach voice lessons daily.

Care instructions
Use a jewelry polishing cloth to polish silver, gold, and gemstones. If there is a lot of debris on the piece from frequent wear, clean with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste.
Handle delicate chains with care to prevent tangles or breakage.
Avoid dropping enameled pieces on hard surfaces, like countertops or tile floors.
Wholesale availability
Not all my work is available for wholesale. Please contact me to see what pieces would work best for wholesale. I gladly wholesale to brick and mortar stores.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I can gift wrap anything from my Etsy shop. I typically use a gift box, ribbon, sleeve or paper to go around the box, and a business card. I can even write a note for the recipient.
