Living and loving the vintage life.

I grew up in a house full of antiques. My father was a collector and dealer. His advice was that older, well built furniture was always better. When I retired, it was natural to continue the tradition. My art degree is continually luring me to search for wonderful design, and one of a kind pieces. Not all antiques fit into today's busy lifestyle, but good vintage or antique adds a wonderful touch of history and romance that can just not be bought in a big box store. By incorporating furniture and accessories with a past into contemporary spaces, we can discover a remix that perfectly expresses who we are, and who we are becoming.

In 2007 after several years of selling vintage on ebay, I discovered Etsy, and my Etsy shop was born early in 2008. I named my shop after my Boston Terrier Dogs. I have had two other Etsy shops, both closed for now. I have been incorporating all of the inventory from those former shops into my Sassydoggs mix of offerings.

    I inherited the collecting bug from my father who was an antique dealer, but the wheeling, dealing, and shopkeeping elements did not kick in until many years later. He would be amazed at what I am doing today and the influence he had on me.

My philosophy is that everyone should be a responsible consumer. Be aware where your consumer dollars are going. Purchasing vintage is a way of green recycling what is already manufactured, does not use any additional natural resources, and supports the small seller, not the big corporations. Vintage is often more well-made than newer products, and many vintage items do not lose value, once purchased. Some vintage items are the antiques of the future, and when well cared for, will only increase in value over the years. Vintage items have history and layers of interest and meaning. Your vintage purchases can reflect your personality and who you are in a way that no trendy new products can.

Returns and exchange details
Please let me know right away if your purchase does not meet your expectations, is not as described, or does not arrive in the condition that you expected. I do not refund shipping costs, but exchanges, store credit, or refunds can be negotiated on most items, once they are returned in the same condition as they were sent. I do not refund if an item is returned damaged or altered in any way. All returned items must include tracking numbers when shipped back to me for refunds.

International buyers are responsible for knowing their country's customs regulations, and for paying any customs fees or VAT fees that are required on their purchase. Customs fees are not included in the item's cost or in the shipping cost. Any item that is returned to me by customs will be refunded item cost only, not shipping, as long as it is returned unopened and in the same condition as sent.

Payment
You are welcome to ask me to reserve an item for you if you can not pay immediately. I will hold for three days, but unless specific arrangements are made to hold your item longer, I will cancel the reserve after three days.

Paypal is accepted as well as personal check or money order.
Payment should be made within ten days of purchase, or let me know if there will be a problem with timely payment, and we can make arrangements.
Shipping
I do ship internationally. If you want to order something that I have not listed international shipping for, please send me a message. Please make sure that you know your customs rules and VAT and tax rules, and are willing to pick up your order from customs, if required.

International buyers are responsible for picking up their order from their country's customs office, as well as paying for their own country's customs fees and taxes. If a buyer does not pick up their shipped order from customs, refuses to pay customs, or claims it was not received, and the item is returned to me, than shipping costs will not be refunded.

Shipping for all orders is usually done within 24 – 48 hours of receipt of payment. I always make the effort to ship the same day, when possible. I will let you know if shipping is delayed for any reason.

I wrap and package carefully to insure that your purchase will arrive safely. I have eight years experience in internet shipping of fragile collectibles, and I don’t require that you pay extra for postal insurance. I do consider that I am the one responsible for you receiving your item in the condition that you expect to receive it. If you would like your purchase insured, please let me know. Insurance is your option. If you are an international buyer, you will be responsible for any customs fees that your country requires. I do not mark your order "gift" to avoid fees.

If I have made a mistake in addressing your item and it is returned to me because of my mistake, I will either refund your payment including shipping, or I will send it again at my expense. If an item is returned to me because delivery was attempted and notice was left for you to pick up at the post office and you did not do so after being notified, I will not refund shipping charges or pay to ship it again.

I use purchased boxes and bubble wrap envelopes for shipping many items, but I will use recycled packaging as often as I can. Your item will be carefully packed for safe arrival. I usually ship either Priority Mail or First Class, but if your order is heavy or large, I often use Fedex to save on shipping costs. Books are usually sent Media Mail, unless you request an upgrade to Priority.
