About

A Doll's Life

From 1:24 to miniature to playscale to 1/4, there is plenty of play here, inviting doll enthusiasts from young to experienced to embark on a journey of imagination.

I have been a lifelong Barbie and Madame Alexander collector. My most prized dolls sat in curios as a child, and I occasionally touched their velvet shoes and well-groomed curls.

As a mother, my own girls were not into the collectible dolls, seeking Monster High and Breyer Horses, so I decluttered my collections, keeping only a few and discovering new brands from around the world.

I created my first OOAK Barbie about 15 years ago, with a faceup, rerooting and new clothes, and I began to see dolls not as untouchable but something that could be both played with and displayed, not exclusively one or the other.

My first Blythe sat in her box because there was no way I was going to get her dusty or dirty or, gasp, change her clothes, but the Blythe community encouraged me, as they have others, to unbox, undress, unwig, uneye, change, take apart, paint and put back together...and what a blast! The BJD world has been full of creative possibilities, from Hujoo to Icy and the Monster High frenzy. Now, when my daughter and I shop, we see factory dolls and yard sale throw-aways in a whole new light.

It was thrilling when my college-daughter, Eden, wanted to jump in, not as a doll "fan" necessarily, but as an artist. You will see her dolls and collaborations throughout the shop.

Hopefully, my little dollie shop will encourage you to do a little something new with your dolls, or maybe you will be inspired to buy your very first one. We are never too old to play with our dolls, but life is too short, to keep them in a box. There is definitely a stigma and lack of understanding about adult doll collectors. As a trained anthropologist, I am fascinated about this barrier. If you would like to share any of your stories, please feel free to contact me!

Shipping
I will only ship to CONFIRMED addresses, so if you need it shipped elsewhere, you must confirm an address in Paypal first. Because of Paypal's inclination to side with Buyers in trasaction issues, I will only ship to the address on record in Paypal, I will have a tracking number, and I will not be responsible for lost packages by providing that tracking number as proof of shipping.

I ship every 3-7 business days, so please plan 10-14 days for receipt of your order. International orders will take longer. I often get these shipped sooner, but I am a homeschooling mom, and we are often out and about during the year. Every seller is different, so please note that my shipping times may differ from others.
Refunds and Exchanges
Custom dolls and larger items, such as kitchens and bakeries, are NOT refundable or returnable. You would not be able to return art to a gallery after purchasing it, and my art is the same. Since every item is quality checked over and over even before photographing, by the time it is listed, packed carefully and shipped, it is in perfect order or as otherwise clearly stated in the listing. Since I cannot control what happens after it leaves my studio, I am not responsible for damage.

Especially in terms of dolls and intricate items, I cannot control how a doll is managed, dropped, strings pulled, hair combed, etc., so I will NOT fix dolls without a hefty charge, if I accept the repair at all. I have had customers try and send back dolls that have been dropped onto a tile floor from a high shelf, melted into other dolls in attic storage, send back crazy-eyed dolls from messing with the mechanism - all while trying to say that it was like that when it came - uh, no. So, as the listings say, be sure you love the doll before you buy her, because if a repair is needed in the future, I may not be able to do it or, if I can, there will be a charge. Most repairs start at $50.

Personal items, such as soaps and lip glosses are not refundable, for health reasons.

Once you have left neutral or negative feedback, my incentive to provide the best possible customer service is greatly diminished. Please be a good Etsy citizen and speak to me prior to leaving anything but positive feedback.
Additional policies and FAQs
Be sure to READ the listing description for words like "used" or "partial." It is your responsibility to know what you are buying. Many items are previously-loved, so be sure to read the descriptions. Have fun shopping!
