This pendant is so cool! It's my husband's birth year on the coin too so it couldn't have been any cooler. Thank you for the fast, friendly service and the environmentally friendly packaging.

About

Stringing the world together with garlands and scrimshaw ...

Marguerite and Sandra are the kind of neighbours that wave through their kitchen windows at each other to say good morning or good night. Marguerite frequently stops by with her most recent yarn creation and one day she came by with the most delightful miniature socks made from unique sock yarns and said "So what do you think of these?" A lightbulb went off in my head and the collective called Sassy Sudbury Sisters was born!

I love the idea of miniatures, so garlands with mini clothing pieces fits the bill whether that be socks or sweaters or ??? Who knows what will inspire us next.

And speaking of miniatures, the amazing miniature works of art by Roland aka Troll are also available here. Roland may not live in Sudbury, or be a "sister", but he is most definitly sassy. Roland is an artist who creates scrimshaw products as well as carvings out of natural materials such as bones, wood and antlers. We look forward to adding his beautiful products in the coming weeks and months.

Roland admittedly is inspired by everything around him! Whether that be the shape of his MP3 player, or pebbles and bones. For his jewelry, he uses a lot of bones, mostly beef soup bones (after the soup is done), as well as alpaca silver, brass and copper. He also creates carvings out of bones and antlers collected by his father-in-law.

Dave Ausma is the newest member to our collective. He is Sandra's father and enjoys painting and created stained glass works. His art work will soon be gracing our shop in various forms.

All of our products are handmade, much of it is custom to order. We all pride ourselves on quality work and offering unique products.

Roland has a PhD in biology but prefers to stare through a dissecting microscope to create beautiful pieces of scrimshaw out of mammoth ivory! His dream is to be able to make a living from what is currently his hobby. Roland works out of his home.

We will not ship an item before payment is received and verified. Many of our items are custom made on ordering - we make every effort to ship within 3 to 5 days of receipt and verification of your payment. If you place a custom order - we will provide you an indication of shipping times when you place your custom order.
Shipping
Your order will ship from Canada. When possible, I will reuse or recycle shipping materials in order to keep my costs to you as low as possible - so the packaging may not be beautiful and new. Shipping is via Canada Post and my shipping prices are determined using Canada Post's website (www.canadapost.ca). The shipping rate includes postage, the taxes I have to pay on postage and a minimal charge for packaging. International shipping from Canada is expensive. If you'd like to purchase multiple listings with high shipping costs, please convo me and I'll create a special listing with accurate shipping prices.

Canada Post shipping rates are based on weight and size. Items thicker than 2 cm (3/4 inch) will cost significantly more to ship. Hence, sometimes two similar items will not cost the same to ship since one item results in a thicker package to ship. This is also why I try my best to keep parcels as thin as possible.

You should receive your order in about a week if you are located in Canada or the US, however, it may take longer, especially to international destinations. Typical delivery to Canada and the US is 6 to 15 days depending on the shipping method. I live in Northern Ontario, don't be overly surprised if your shipment takes 2 weeks or even longer to arrive. If you wish an upgrade the shipping method, please convo me before purchasing and I will provide you with prices. Shipping times are *not* guaranteed and I will not refund for delayed delivery.

Canada Post is now offering some shipping options with tracking for parcels. Adding tracking to a small thin item in a padded envelope will cost about $10 US on top of the shipping posted. Larger items cost significantly more to include tracking and insurance. Please note that the shipping prices quoted do *not* typically include tracking and insurance. A 1 kg package shipped internationally will cost about $40 Cdn to ship by air without tracking and insurance.

If you are interested in surface shipping rates, please convo me. They can be much more economical, but shipping to international destinations may take 4 to 6 weeks or even longer. Tracking and insurance is not available on surface shipped items.

I am not responsible for what happens to your parcel while in transit to you. If you have not requested and paid for insurance and tracking, I cannot provide a refund if your order is not delivered or damaged in transit or during delivery. If your order has tracking and insurance, I will help with your insurance claim.

The buyer is responsible for paying all duties and taxes that may be associated with the receipt of the purchased item in your jurisdiction. The buyer is also responsible for ensuring that if they are importing an item, that this item is not restricted in their country.
Refunds and Exchanges
We will only provide a full refund if an item has been listed incorrectly. Items must be returned for a refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
We love custom orders, whether this be for larger quantities or different sizes or different colours or styles than are currently available in our shop. Please convo us for details and with any questions you may have.
