This is a most beautiful as well as comfortable hat....it is made with such extreme care and quality...there are also many extra loving touches such as a beautiful tiny ribbon flower along the inside brim. It is a true treasure and I could not be happier with it:):)

Creative use of beautiful materials is the joy of hat making.
Who knows how I came to love the look and feel of beautiful old feathers, textiles and old jewelry? Perhaps it was when I played with my mother's "button bag" on a rainy day or when I discovered the art of ribbon work reading Candace Kling's "The Artful Ribbon". What I do know is that I love to use beautiful old materials when I put them on hats I have molded and formed.I take pleasure in knowing they are to be appreciated by a new generation.
While living in Boston, I taught millinery techniques at the School for Fashion Design on Newbury St. I now live in the beautiful seaside city of Newport, RI. My studio is in my home in the Broadway Arts District. Jewelers, fanciful upholsterers and music recording studios abound in this neighborhood. The friendly bicycle shop next door provides a constant stream of happy and healthy looking people.
I love to come into the studio in the morning with my beautiful little poodle, Edison, and begin the day's work. Inspiration is everywhere in open boxes of old millinery flowers, walls of ribbon and containers of feathers.
The result is what you see on my Etsy site. I hope you enjoy browsing.
My goal is to create new hats that echo the looks and workmanship of hats from previous decades – new hats that look old. I am a believer that your work is only as good as your materials so I love looking for beautiful ribbon, antique feathers and old flowers. I am happy if I can add these treasures to a hat or a headpiece that I have shaped and molded. I have been making hats for over 20 years and find that the creation of something that is unique to me feeds my soul. I am very pleased when people can recognize a hat of mine without being told.
