You've stumbled upon the shop of the finest handmade scarves and mufflers you can buy today. My winter Merino mufflers are no joke. They are bulky, dense, warm and soft. I only use natural superfine Merino wool yarns because wool is the most insulating fiber that exists. Quite frankly, other fibers like rayon chenille, cotton, and synthetics may look warm but they just don't do the job. "Form must follow function" and the function of a winter scarf is to keep you warm.
I take no short cuts in my work, every piece is individually hand threaded, handwoven, and hand hemstitched.
Take your time, look around, enjoy your visit, I hope you find something you like!

5 out of 5 starsThe weight and feel are perfect. The scarf is tightly woven so it keeps you warm while being soft and light weight. Very easy to wear in a wide range of winter temperatures. It's really beautiful.

About scarfguy
Happiness is a warm scarf in the winter...
All products are proudly handmade by me in Youngstown, Ohio, USA from domestic and imported natural fibers.
My marled merino scarves are my signature design. All are woven of superfine Merino Wool blended with silk or tencel, they are bulky, dense, warm, and soft to keep you cozy in the winter. The marled tweed appearance is achieved by threading and weaving three threads at a time. I believe that I am the only weaver that uses this technique extensively.
The Merino breed of sheep originated from the crossing of Spanish sheep with Berber races in the 14th and 15th centuries. The breed is known for having the softest finest fiber of all sheep breeds. Most Merino comes from "the land of sheep", Australia, where sheep outnumber humans by 6 to 1. Merino is underrated as a luxury fiber in my opinion. It is relatively inexpensive but top quality Merino rivals many cashmeres in softness. It is a wonderful fiber with which to work. Being naturally off white, it can be easily dyed to many rich colors. With a nice elasticity, good strength, and durability, it yields a superb garment at a moderate price.

I've been weaving for over 30 years now. It started as relaxing hobby that would take me away from the high-tech high-stress world of computers and networks. Weaving has since become a passion. I retired in 2004 to pursue my passion full-time.

If you don't like wool because it "itches" or you think you are allergic to wool, I urge you to reconsider. Superfine Merino wool is next-to-the-skin soft. Unless you are sure that you have an allergy (which many people do), you may have just been a victim of bad "scratchy" wool in the past.
