As a lampwork artist specializing in borosilicate glass at Scarlet Impressions, I am committed to creating unique, handcrafted pieces that are both beautiful and eco-friendly. My work serves a purpose beyond aesthetics. I constantly seek out new challenges and ways to improve my craft, and I am excited to share my journey with others.

I discovered my passion for glass in 2009 and founded Scarlet Impressions in 2010. Originally, I created lampwork beads. With over 10 years of experience, I made the move from soda lime glass to borosilicate glass in 2016.

The saturated colors of borosilicate glass make it an ideal choice for my designs that require small amounts of color along with clear glass. Additionally, the low coefficient of thermal expansion allows you to work with high temperatures without worrying about the glass breaking, making it perfect for your kitchen pieces like straws. Soda-lime glass is a very versatile material that has been used for a wide variety of purposes throughout history. In modern times, it is most commonly used in the production of wine bottles and jam jars, as well as in the manufacture of fusing and blown glass. However, soda-lime glass is not limited to just these applications.

Gilson opals, are the only opals that can be used inside glass. These synthetic opals are made using a unique process that mimics the natural formation of opals. They exhibit a mesmerizing play-of-colour, which is an optical effect that causes flashes of colored light as the opal is viewed from different angles. Dichroic glass is a fascinating type of glass that is created by layering micro-thin layers of metals or oxides between layers of glass. The use of these metal and oxide layers creates a special effect whereby the glass shifts colors depending on the angle from which it is viewed, with each metal and oxide producing unique shades and tones.
