Science Flair to show your love of STEM

Amanda Preske has been creating by hand for as long as she can remember. Gifted a box of colorful seed beads as a teenager, she taught herself how to bead weave and slowly branched out into other forms of jewelry making, including resin casting and metalsmithing.

Amanda's first foray into handmade science products started with her company, Circuit Breaker Labs. Upon seeing the circuit boards coming from a broken computer her brother was attempting to repair, she became transfixed by the beauty and complexity found on a circuit board. Started in 2007, Circuit Breaker Labs is now a full time business that produces jewelry & accessories and is carried in museums and gift shops across the country.

After getting used to working with her CNC machine to cut circuit board, she was interested in learning more about laser cutting. Laser cutting doesn't work for circuit board (the fiberglass/epoxy combination would burst out in flames!), so Amanda sought to create wood and acrylic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) themed jewelry to get closer to her roots as a scientist (she has a PhD in chemistry!).

Science Flair is a play on words, a brand that seeks to redefine science in an artistic (and often wearable) way. Show your love of science and look good doing it!
