Note from shop owner Scribble & jot is preparing to close permanently this summer. I'm making a cross country move and big life change, and Scribble & jot is coming to a natural close. I am currently accepting orders, but intend to open and close throughout May depending on order volume, so if you want another journal or guestbook, now is the time to order! Have a great day and thank you for supporting Scribble & jot!

Sharing the Notebook Love

I love to write and have always loved notebooks, so when I discovered the craft of bookbinding, I was hooked. I love creating beautiful, unique, high-quality books to serve as a blank canvas for other artists ideas, words, and images. My notebooks are meant to be used! Don't be afraid to dive right in and fill them.

Thanks for visiting my shop!

Frequently asked questions

Instax or Polaroid Album

Couples often use my books as wedding guestbooks where their guests can put in a small instax or polaroid photos and sign around them. For this, I recommend a book with a secret belgian binding. You can find many of these in my wedding guestbook section:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/scribbleandjot?ref=hdr_shop_menu§ion_id=14436433

Or can order one custom here:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/253670777/custom-guest-book-wedding-photo-booth-or?ref=shop_home_active_3

This binding allows for more photos and add-in's without getting too bulky. A coptic stitch book can handle some photos (like if you want a few engagement photos throughout for guests to sign around) but if you add too many, it will get bulky and won't close flat.

How many instax fit?

For Instax MINI film (54mm X 86mm) you can fit
1-2 photos/page in a Small Square, or Medium Landscape book
2-4/page in a Large Square book
4-6 /page in a Large Portrait book

with room for guests to sign around

For Instax WIDE film (108mm X 86mm--same as a standard polaroid) you can fit
1 photo / page in a Small Square or Medium Landscape book or
2 photos / page in a Medium Portrait or Large Square book
2-3 / page in a Large Portrait book

with room for guests to sign around

I would recommend mounting photos on only one side of each page (Note that page counts in my listings count front and back.) & using an album binding book as opposed to a coptic stitch, as an album binding allows more space for added photos without getting bulky.

Do your books lay flat?

Yes! All of my books --coptic stitch as well as secret belgian binding & sweet binding-- lay completely flat when open, allowing for easy writing and sketching. The only exception are my longstitch binding books which do not lay totally flat.

Do you offer lined paper or graph paper?

Yes! Lined paper is offered for all 6 X 8 size notebooks. This option will be available as you checkout and select the quantity and size of book you are purchasing. Graph paper is available upon request, also only for size 6 X 8 notebooks.

Do you offer cover customization for wedding guestbooks?

I do not at this time offer any kind of name customization. You are more than welcome to add something to the cover or inside. I may have some available in the future, but at this time do not offer any.

Do you have something in another color?

My paper suppliers have a large selection of prints and colors, and I am always happy to custom order you something! Let me know what you have in mind and I can look for something in your colors.

Are there slots for the photos to slide into?

My books all come with smooth blank pages (sketchbook-like paper) and do not have slots for photos. I do have a listing you can purchase to have me include photo corners to create slots for your guests to add photos. https://www.etsy.com/listing/472896718/photo-corners?ref=shop_home_active_1

If you prefer to do them yourself, you can find similar corners at most craft stores. Another option is to use double sided sticky corners that you provide for your guests to stick on the back --also found at most craft stores. http://www.michaels.com/recollections-double-sided-mounting-squares-permanent/M10023757.html#pmpt=qualifying&sz=24&start=52

I do not recommend using glue as it will warp the pages.

Sizing details

Please note that sizes are approximate and may vary by up to half an inch. Because the boards I use for the notebook covers are cut by a third party, they are not exact. Sometimes having a slightly smaller or larger dimension allows for a much more efficient use of materials and helps me keep cost savings down that I pass along to my customers. If you need an exact dimension, please contact me before placing an order.
