From Need Comes Solutions
My first love is wearables, both jewelry and clothing. DH, who plays with glass and fire, was my go-to guy for fused glass buttons and pendants. He eventually convinced me that I could learn to make them myself (no doubt, in self-defense). He patiently taught me the finer points of COE, ramping schedules, and bubble soaks. He even bought me my first programmable kiln for Christmas that year. I dipped in my toe and became hopelessly hooked. Pulling glass from a kiln is as much of an adventure as pulling yarn from a dye pot. Awesome!
Then I learned to lampwork (melting glass with a torch). This is true alchemy, my friends! The glass will actually change colors and texture as you change the chemical mix of your flame. And, I get to play with fire. You can't get better than that.
I am a maker through and through. I dabble in a variety of mediums but I have narrowed my offerings down to the things that I love most; melting glass (making beads and pendants), banging on metal (jewelry making) and weaving (my form of meditation) - focus is my constant challenge.
I try to use local materials made in the United States as much as possible. A native of Seattle, I have lived in several states (from Alaska to Virginia, currently in Michigan) so, local to me is the whole country! I use glass made in Oregon (Bullseye and Uroboros), West Virginia (Wissmach), Virginia (Double Helix), and Michigan (Royal). I use professional kilns with programmable firing modules to control the fusing and annealing process. Beads and glass items made in the torch are also annealed properly in these same kilns. The vital step of annealing ensures that even though these items are made of glass, they are reasonably durable and should last for years of use. That said, they are glass. A sudden shock or striking them sharply on a hard surface in just the right place will probably result in a break. Since I cannot duplicate most of my designs, treat them with care and respect as a replacement is often challenging. I happily guarantee against chain links breaking, findings breaking and anything arriving damaged. Just let me know if you have a problem with anything and I will get it taken care of.
Most of my jewelry is made of Sterling Silver, Pure Silver, or Copper (recycled when I can get it). It almost always contains lampworked beads or fused glass elements - made by me. If I couldn't resist using a bead by another glass artist I will state so in the item description.
My handwoven scarves are truly a work of joy. From the designing, warping, threading, weaving, hemstitching, fringing... to the finishing. My looms are my babies and my solace. Each item I weave is an act of love.
All my sales (full sale price, not just profit) have 3% donated to saving our oceans. My current organization of choice is Oceana.com who's focus is cleaning up our oceans, responsible fishing, and ocean saving legislation - around the world. My father was a sea captain and growing up on the Pacific has contributed to salt water in my veins. It's a cause dear to my heart and essential for our planet.
http://www.SeaAirArts.com/events.html for news of local (to SE Michigan) shows that I can be found at (well, not now (pandemic), but hopefully again. Someday).
And because I just can't help myself, I occasionally publish a knitting pattern. You can find those at my other shop https://www.etsy.com/aScatteredCreative. Also, I still love to make buttons so watch for them there as well.
Revel in Color!

The benefit of this system is that Etsy has been around for years and is very reliable and secure. Also, I (or any other merchant who uses them) will never have access to your credit card information or number, keeping you even safer.
Etsy Checkout is free to the buyer, any fees charged for transactions are paid by the seller (except if paying in a non-USA currency, there is a small conversion fee paid by the buyer).
