We ordered two hammered silver rings to use as wedding bands. Shipped on time with no issues. Kristin and David were responsive and helpful when we needed to return the rings for resizing, and they kept us updated on all stages of the process. And the rings look great, of course!

The ring is just as pictured and arrived earlier than expected! Communication with the shop owners was prompt and professional.

Pictures are accurate, ring is magical, design is clean, shipping was reasonably timed
In March of 2005, David Rutledge met Kristin Mulholland on a beautiful beach in Hawaii. I was a surfing instructor, and Kristin was a barrista on Oahu’s North Shore. While diving for shells between lessons, we came up with a plan to transform local shells into jewelry and sell them at the local Farmer’s Market. The influence of customers and other vendors lead to the creation our first Etsy shop. You can read more about this part of our story in our Quit Your Day Job feature.
Today, we are Rutledge Jewelers. Kristin and I were married in 2013, and in 2015 we welcomed Jordan Michael Rutledge to our family. All of our rings are now handmade in our workshop and cabin at 4500’ in Arnold, CA, close to Yosemite. We find tremendous inspiration in our mountain home.
I hand forge and polish each ring individually. Each ring is made from recycled gold from our partner foundry in Virginia. We use eco friendly materials and techniques, wherever possible to ensure great jewelry with a small environmental footprint.
Rutledge Jewelers offer many different options in addition to what you find in our shop. We offer a large variety of gold color and karat and numerous widths, thicknesses, profiles and finishes. We are also happy to take custom order requests. Every customer and order is of great value to us, and we hope to be the ones to meet your needs. Please feel free to contact us with any questions!

We are not responsible for rings ordered in the wrong ring size. We use a standard US ring sizing chart. We do offer free resizing within 1/4-1/2 size up or down for most rings depending on what the ring will allow. The customer is responsible for the shipping costs to get the ring back and forth. Due to the unique design of our Infinity ring, this ring cannot be resized. Size differences over 1/2 size are considered an exchange as we will need to make a new ring for you. There is a charge for this, dependent on the item. Engraved rings that need sizing are subject to a re-engraving fee.
We also offer guaranteed delivery, which means, if the package is lost during shipping, we will send out a new ring as quickly as possible. Non-Express international orders should allow ample time for your article to clear customs. Please be familiar your countries customs fees, taxes, and duties.
We cannot accept exchanges on custom made items not listed in our shop.
Rush orders are non-refundable.
All orders must be paid in full before we can begin making them, unless we have set up a payment plan in special circumstances.
If we will be shipping to an address outside of the US, there could be an import duty or tax charged on your purchase. Please note that this is determined by your country’s laws and as we do not assess the tax, are therefore not responsible financially if this occurs.
Additional policies and FAQs
and this standard jewelers ring mandrel:
All rings 2mm and wider will include a complimentary Appraisal Certificate for your records. All rings 1.5mm and wider will be automatically karat marked.
We hand forge our rings. They are not cast. Therefore, there will be a seam where the ring is soldered, however it is usually hard to see. Each ring is made to order in your size and to your specifications. We do welcome custom orders if you see a ring we make that you would like wider, thicker, or in another type of gold. We are not able to set stones, or recycle gold jewelry into rings.
We offer engraving on rings 2mm and wider. The base price is $20 for up to 10 characters. Once a ring is engraved, it cannot be resized. Please double check your engraving message once you send it to us as we will engrave exactly the way it is denoted within quotation marks. Engraving may add an additional 1-2 days production time to your order.
We are not responsible for International orders that are not picked up from customs. Duties and taxes and the process is the responsibility of the receiver. We will of course work with you and do our part to help you receive the rings.
All of our gold comes from recycled/reclaimed sources through a reputable supplier.
