Creating beautiful art and gifts from sustainable vintage sea glass

I am passionate about nature and do my best to live and work as sustainably and simply as I can.

I have always lived at the coast and enjoyed walking along the beach, often picking up a pebble or seashell with my granddaughter to bring home for the garden or to decorate. We began to notice shiny pebbles in the sand and comparing the colours was exciting... the hobby of sea glass collecting had began. Collecting inspired creating and gifting which in turn inspired selling and thus my business was born!

Everything you see has been collected with my own fair hands and I love making them into beautiful pictures, jewellery and decor. Reusing and recycling and sharing some beach love!
Seaham is home to the famous multi coloured pieces of Sea Glass and I am lucky to live just a 5 minute drive away! So that is 5 minutes from beach to workshop (more commonly known as the kitchen table!).

And pebbles ... aren't they just amazing too! They have been around for millennia and each one is a sculpture in its own unique way. I don't know what I love more - sea glass or pebbles. They speak to be in their own way - sea glass with its transparency and lightness, pebbles with their earthiness and solidity - and are both ways to connect with our inner and outer worlds. Just hold a pebble for a few moments and you will see what I mean.

Seaham, and my home town of Sunderland, was a hive of glassmaking activity over a century ago. From bottles to home decor, there were glassmakers and bottleworks producing the country's best glassware and exporting around the globe. The glass I find today is from the leftovers and breakages of each day's production which was discarded into the river and sea. After being tumbled and smoothed for decades it washes up on Seaham beach and sparkles in the sand when the tide is going out...

Visiting the area? Why not call in to the National Glass Centre or Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens. Both of these places have great exhibitions about the history of glassmaking and you can pick up one of my pictures from the gift shop!

Each item is carefully packaged for postage and I minimise the use of plastic by re-using cardboard and other packaging materials where possible.

Thank you for stopping by!
