Announcement   Welcome to the Seaside Rose Cottage, the home of vintage and retired rubber stamps, exquisite paper art, vintage china and crystal, and other simply wonderful things!

If you love the exquisite detail and elaborate artwork of vintage and retired rubber stamps as much as I do, you've come to the right place! The Seaside Rose Cottage specializes in retired PSX and other well loved and well used stamps. We also sell handcrafted items that have been made using our favorite stamps, papers, and embellishments.

At the Rose Cottage, I make many of my own embellishments for my paper art, some of which I also offer for sale along with our signature cards, gift bags, one of a kind journals, and memory albums.

If you like to enjoy a cup of tea while you craft, please stop by my china cupboard where I am now sharing some lovely pieces from my extensive collection of vintage Limoges and other 19th century china. Don't see exactly what you want in the shop? Contact me via message and let me know what you're looking for. Perhaps something in my "china room" is just the piece you have in mind.

All of the paper art projects featured in my store are my personal, exclusive handiwork and have been designed and created by me in my studio. Each is crafted individually and no two items are ever exactly alike. Since all of the work is done by hand, subtle differences between similar items and any minor imperfections are a testament to the time and care that was spent in crafting each unique piece by hand. When items are sold as sets, there will always be slight differences in each piece, either in the embellishments used or other subtle change in the design. That is why I post photographs of each individual piece included.

About Gently Used Stamps:

All of the stamps I sell have been owned and used by other crafters and/or me. Some of the stamps were used a lot; others weren’t used at all. They often bear the nicks and scratches and marks of having been well-handled, some for as long as 20 years or more. Even though many will show no signs of having been inked, they all should be considered “used” and purchased "as is". I describe the stamps to the best of my ability. Let the photographs guide you to ask questions prior to purchasing.

Gently used stamps sometimes display the price tag from when they were originally purchased which is left in place, since many collectors find these tags to be very desirable. They often bear the initials or even the full name of the person who originally bought and used them. Stamps may show absolutely no ink residue or may show mild to significant ink staining on the wood and/or rubber. When ink stains are present, they do not affect the crispness of the stamped image.

I stamp all stamps prior to sale to verify that there are no unseen defects in the rubber. All stamps are thoroughly cleaned before being photographed and offered for sale. I try to describe the condition of the stamp as accurately as possible. Please look at the pictures carefully and feel free to ask questions.

Photographs are of the actual stamp you are purchasing. When shown, stamped images, cards, or other items made with the image have been stamped with the actual stamp being offered, are meant to show the quality of the stamp or to suggest design ideas, and are not included in the purchase. Flowers, table linens, and other props are likewise not included in this listing and are not for sale!

About Vintage China, Crystal, and Elegant Glass

By its very nature, vintage china and elegant glass has been gently used and will virtually always show signs of its age. Although I endeavor to describe each piece as accurately and as completely as possible, I do not profess any expertise in collectibles. Pieces are attributed to a particular pattern or manufacturer only when manufacturers marks or imprints can be verified in standard glassware and china references.

About

Introducing the Seaside Rose Cottage

The Seaside Rose Cottage opened in 2003 in a small room in our home that overlooks some of our many cottage and rose gardens, hence its name. I'd been dabbling in paper art since I was a child and over the years, I'd made numerous scrapbooks and cards for family and friends. Unable to find a wedding album that celebrated my Jewish heritage, nor invitations and cards for Jewish holiday celebrations, I made my own. They were instantly popular with friends and there was a demand for these specialized cards and memory books. At the time, I thought that it might prove a viable retirement business some time in the distant future.

When I became disabled and home bound due to progressive MS just a few years later, my retirement dream became a mid-life reality. What started out as a hobby motivated by personal need gradually evolved into a home-based business that fills a very unique niche. As I honed my skills, my signature style evolved. Over the years I've taught classes that feature my original designs and techniques that I've created and perfected.

In creating unique cards, I gravitated to retired, vintage stamps, particularly the detailed landscapes and botanicals produced by PSX. My husband and I enjoyed scouring the Internet and consignment shops for PSX's large botanical stamps. In the process, since we often acquired box lots of "pre-loved" stamps, I found myself buried in beautiful old stamps, not all of which I would ever be able to use. I set aside "favorites" and decided to sell the rest.

When I first opened this Etsy shop, it provided a venue for selling the large inventory of stamps we had amassed during the early years of the Seaside Rose Cottage. Most of my initial projects were custom ordered albums created for specific events and clients. Cards sold so quickly, it was hard to keep an inventory. I rarely had actual projects available for retail sale on line. The Etsy shop initially focused primarily on crafting supplies while I tested the waters of on-line retail.

Health issues left the Etsy shop idle for more than two years. This year, the Seaside Rose Cottage is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a major face lift and change in focus. The store will continue to offer pre-loved stamps for card-making and scrap-booking. But I am accepting fewer large commissioned projects, choosing instead to focus on what I enjoy crafting the most: beautiful cards, gift boxes and bags, handcrafted embellishments, holiday decorations, and themed journals. Many of these will now find their way into the Etsy store. All are my own unique creations and designs, hand made from top quality card stock and embellishments. Many feature hand colored artwork, exquisite ribbons, lace, buttons, and chrams, and love. They span every major holiday and life event, and many have been thoughtfully designed to address difficult or complicated family and social relationships and situations.

The biggest change however, is the addition of The China Closet to my Etsy shop. The China Closet is a section of the shop where I'll be offering some of my extensive collection of vintage china, depression glass, and vintage crystal and silver for sale. A lifelong collector, I found inspiration for some of my most favorite designs in the exquisite beauty of many of these lovely pieces.

Returns and exchanges
My return policy is simple. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return the item to me within five days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price.

Please contact me via email within three days of receipt if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase so that I may address any issues or concerns promptly.

Refunds are by the same method in which payment was made and will be processed within one business day upon receipt of the merchandise.

Merchandise should be returned via the same shipping method in the original packaging. While I offer complimentary shipping on many items in my shop, I do not cover the cost of return shipping unless there has been an error on my part in fulfilling your order. If the error was mine, I will email you a prepaid mailing label for the return of the package. Simply print out and affix the label to the package and schedule a pick-up with the post office.

If your package fails to arrive: I haven't "lost" a package yet, but If your package does not arrive within one day of the expected date of delivery, please contact me immediately so that I can attempt to locate it.
Payment
I accept payment through Etsy Direct Checkout and PayPal. I regret that I cannot accept personal checks or money orders. Payments with Paypal echecks require confirmation by PayPal that can take several days. If you are paying by Paypal echeck, I will let you know when the payment has been cleared by Paypal. I ship within one - two business days after receiving payment confirmation via Etsy Direct Checkout or PayPal.

If you purchase multiple items, I do combine shipping. Please convo for a shipping quote. If you expect to purchase additional items within a few days of submitting an initial order, please alert me to hold shipment until all of your purchases are completed so that I can combine shipping for you.

If payment is going to be delayed beyond three days for any reason, please convo to avoid inadvertent cancellation of the transaction. If payment has not been received and I have not heard from you within three days of the commitment to purchase, I will assume that you have changed your mind and no longer wish to purchase the item and will proceed accordingly.
Shipping
At the present time, I use the United States Postal Service exclusively to send merchandise.

I generally offer free shipping for US and Canadian customers for most packages that qualify for first class service (less than 13 ounces). For items that list a shipping charge, I charge only the actual cost of postage. The Seaside Rose Cottage never charges for packing materials and while I promise to handle each and every item carefully and with love, there is never a "handling" fee for doing so.

Need something overnight? Expedited shipping through the USPS is available at the customer's expense. I charge only the actual cost of expedited shipping. Convo to arrange but please note that the USPS does not guarantee expedited shipping to all addresses.

Vintage china is always shipped by priority mail, insured, with a signature required at delivery. Not all purchases of multiple pieces of china can be safely combined into a single box for shipment. I will endeavor to package your china carefully and safely and in as few boxes as possible. I will convo details of china shipments and shipping costs prior to sending your packages. If you are planning to purchase several pieces of china, convo before paying and I will create a special invoice for you. China and fragile glassware is always carefully wrapped and double boxed for shipping.

About Shipping:

I prefer to ship to confirmed USPS Click and Ship addresses in the United States and Canada. If a shipping address is unverified, I will provide a proof of shipment certificate from the post office and tracking as may be available for priority mail shipments.

If you are purchasing a gift and want it sent to the recipient at a different address, I am happy to do so. Gift wrapping and a small gift card signed on your behalf are provided at no extra charge when your package is sent directly to a gift recipient. Be sure to convo me to arrange.

We pride ourselves on being an earth friendly shop. Thus, I do recycle shipping and packaging materials when it's reasonable to do so. I do not use synthetic foam packing peanuts. If I feel that a peanut type packing material is required (for example with some large china pieces), I use a packing peanut that is completely biodegradable and recyclable.

International Customers:

International shipments are sent using either First Class International Package Service or USPS International Priority Flat Rate Service. International customers are charged the actual cost of shipping. Rates are set by the USPS based on weight, value (if insured), and estimated delivery time.

Shipping charges do not include any customs charges which may be due from the recipient . By law, customs forms that I complete will list the actual selling price. I do not add any handling charges to quotes for shipping, nor do I charge for packing materials.

International customers are invited to email or convo for precise shipping quotes prior to purchasing.

Please Note: Any prices quoted in a listing for international shipping are estimates based on the weight of the item and approximate weight of packing materials for First Class International Package Service.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders can be arranged. Inquiries by email or convo are welcome! Many of the items I sell can be personalized at little or no additional cost and with virtually no delay in shipping. Complimentary gift wrapping and a small gift card signed on your behalf are available. Please email or convo me for any special handling or personalization.
