Welcome to The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things - a curated listing of antique, vintage and retro designs most loved: tribal; art nouveau; art deco; 1950s hollywood glamour; mid-century modern; retromania; 1970s disco; arts & crafts revival; 1980s glamazonia; and shabby chic. Take some time out, relax (preferably with a cup of tea or a glass of wine), and browse. I have tried to capture the beauty of each item and explain why I love it so much including by sharing some insight into its specific design elements.

The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things is a socially and environmentally responsible shop. At least 50 per cent of the items sold here are sourced through charitable institutions. Buying from these sources helps raise funds for human rights protection including through employment, health and education services and combating homelessness, domestic violence and poverty. I add on only a small finder's fee aimed at covering shop expenses and my own livelihood.

I am committed to the ethical use of the planet's resources. Buying secondhand means I am recycling, reusing and repurposing the limited resources humanity shares. I work hard to try to ensure that my purchases do not come at the expense of someone or something else. I believe in trade with a conscious and in the noble endeavour of offering exciting, beautiful and pleasurable objects to consumers mindfully, ethically and responsibly. Be my guest and enjoy.

Payment
I accept payment exclusively through Paypal. I am committed to pricing all my wonderful things as cheaply as possible. I want you to get value for money; to be able to count in shipping and packaging costs and know you are still getting a bargain; and to hopefully make a bit of a profit if/when you ever decide to sell the item on (it happens). Most of all I want you to become 'A Regular' - a valued part of the community that is The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things.

Reserved Items
I offer a reservation service. Items can be reserved for periods of time mutually agreeable to both buyer and seller. Please contact me to discuss. I clearly mark all reserved items in the title. Other customers are kindly asked not to purchase reserved items as Paypal charges sellers for refunds. If a reserved item is purchased by customers other than the reservee, monies will be refunded with buyers charged the cost of the refund.
Shipping
All shipping rates are based on the weight of the item and are exact Australia Post rates (see www.auspost.com.au).

International Shipping
I am pleased to ship globally. If your country is not listed but is part of the Asia-Pacific region, the shipping costs will be the same as Fiji and Japan. Middle East costs are the same as Canada. 'Rest of the World' (excluding the US) shipping costs are the same as the EU. In 2010, the United States Government introduced a AUD$9.00 surcharge on packages over 500 grams being imported into the US. The AUD$9.00 surcharge has been included in the US shipping costs detailed here.

Domestic Shipping
Australia is a large continent and shipping costs vary. I detail the maximum Australia Post domestic shipping cost. Should shipping to your Australian destination be less than stated here, I refund the difference where the difference in postage is greater than AUD$3.00. This AUD$3.00 margin is in lieu of Paypal and other associated refund costs. You can contact me directly for precise domestic shipping costs prior to purchase.

All purchases from The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things are shipped each Friday unless extraordinary circumstances prevent this. Where more than one item is purchased I aim to combine shipping costs at a reduced rate by packing multiple items together unless doing so would likely lead to damage or increase shipping costs. Please contact me to discuss.
Refunds and Exchanges
Satisfaction Guaranteed
I offer a 100 per cent refund aimed at guaranteeing your satisfaction with all purchases from The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things. If you don't love it, send it back. Unfortunately however, I can not refund shipping costs, shipping damage or shipping loss. See below.

Shipping Damage or Loss
Australia Post advises: "According to the Universal Postal Union Agreement [which regulates all international and domestic postal transactions], the addressee [of a letter/package] has sole right to compensation after accepting delivery of a parcel. If the addressee has received a parcel with some of the contents damaged or missing, they must present the parcel, including the wrapping and packaging, to their post office for inspection. If these requirements are not observed the relevant overseas administration and Australia Post may refuse to consider any compensation claim." Where an item does not arrive, addressees should approach their local post office and submit a claims/complaints form. Unfortunately, Australia Post does not permit The Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things to claim on behalf of customers.
Additional policies and FAQs
Gift Wrapping
All items purchased from the Secondhand Emporium of Wonderful Things are safely packed in a womb of thick bubble wrap. Fragile items are boxed, wrapped in two layers of bubble wrap, and surrounded in shredded paper to prevent any movement in the box. All items are gift wrapped for free upon request. In some instances I wont be able to gift wrap your item because of shape or weight. Where you request gift wrapping, I will advise you of this before sending the item. Your gift wrapped item will be professionally (and beautifully) presented using op shop and recycled finds. I encourage you to also reuse, recycle, and repurpose my packaging.

Customised Requests
If you are looking for items of a certain vintage style, or even a specific item do not hesitate to contact me. I can normally find just about anything vintage - it's only a matter of time.
