Spring 2022
I’m BAAAAAACK!!!
Since putting my shop on hiatus in November 2020, the following year was quite an adventure, to put it mildly. I spent the first half of 2021 living in the hospital, recovering from multiple emergency surgeries, procedures and treatments. I finally was discharged and sent home, only to deal with complications and end up back in there for weeks at a time.
With my doctors encouragement due to my health, my best friend and fiancé and I moved our wedding date up to October, and had a beautiful tiny ceremony at my MiL’s condo, with a lunch afterwards. We planned to wait until the new year to have a reception for our friends where we could dance the night away and celebrate.
I closed 2021 with the news that there is nothing more they can do at this stage in my cancer, and that the best course of action is to stop treatment, and make me a comfortable as possible for as long as I have. The doctors told my husband and I this two days before Christmas, and that It was likely I would not see the new year.
And HERE I AM.
Grateful for each day isn’t strong enough a word to convey the emotion I feel every morning. I’ve worked my butt off the last couple of months, going from bed ridden to using a walker, and so far things have been stable. The doctors are thrilled, almost as much and my family is, and I enjoy every moment I have.
I now live full time in a local hospice and my husband brings me to our home once a week now to spend time with our daughter and the cats. I finally feel stable enough to open up shop again, and arrange to have items shipped by my husband, who is a 3 min walk from the post office.
I am not yet ready to accept commissions again at this time, and I will update the moment that changes. For now, every item in the shop is a finished piece, ready to pack and ship. All proceeds from my shop go to medical expenses, materials, and supplies. I am so thrilled and excited to be able to pick up and continue my work!
Thank you for your continued support and appreciation! It means the world to me. Please feel free to message me with any requests or questions and we can work together to create something OOAK and perfect just for you!
Thanks for stopping by, and have a FABULOUS day!

Dragon Queen: custom 2 pce necklace set with earrings for a collector or my work.
Est 1992, handcrafted vintage reproduction and assemblage jewelry by Toronto artist Jeanie Schlegel
I grew up watching my great grandmother rework jewelry by taking broken pieces and assembling them with other bits to create a wearable piece. It was upcycling long before it was a thing, and she'd been doing it for decades before I was born. As a young adult, I started making and selling my own jewelry in the Toronto goth scene, being a plus size goth girl it was challenging to put outfits together from the local vintage and thrift shops, but I could at least make Victorian inspired goth jewelry to stand out. 5 years into my business my mother and aunt informed me that my gr. grandmother, whom had passed at 99 yrs old, worked in our family's jewelry shop, William Coates & Son's in Brockville, ON. The shop was opened by my ancestor William in 1847 and remained open until 1921. My mother and aunt handed off to me the remains of the shop's costume jewelry making supplies, beads, gemstones, brass, pearls, all of it. I went from jewelry maker to shameless addict.
To this day, I'm still designing and creating my work, and as much as it has grown and evolved over the last 27 years, so too, has my passion for it. My own personal collection of vintage jewelry has gown to dragon's hoard size, and I've learned so much about mourning and momento mori jewelry, costume jewelry history. and what inspires me to create.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Cnets - carcinoid neuroendochrine tumours, a slow progressing cancer in my liver. Like Lukemia it is not curable, but it is manageable. almost 5 years later and I'm still dancing, but it means I had to cut back on time and energy I could put into my business, since I have much less to work with these days. I keep my shop and still create as much as I can, but I've reduced the amount of shows I vend at in person. This gives me the time I need to enjoy my bright, beautiful, hilarious daughter, my amazing partner, and my friends and family. Finding balance is key.
