5 out of 5 starsI bought these to wear as a bridesmaid in a friend's upcoming wedding; at least that was my excuse for allowing myself something so beautiful and with so little daily utility. To avoid too much wear and tear on the metallic leather, I'll probably save these for special occasions, but they're comfortable enough that I'd otherwise be happy to put them on daily rotation.
Aside from being the loveliest shoes I own (perfect for traipsing around Rivendell) and comfortable to boot (no pun intended), I love that these were built to be repaired rather than replaced. Customer service was also really wonderful—the seller was very responsive and prioritized my order to ensure that it arrived in time for the wedding. -

5 out of 5 starsI love the blue leather color of these shoes. It goes perfectly with jeans. This is my second pair, and the quality is just as good as the first pair!

5 out of 5 starsThese shoes are absolutely amazing and just what I’ve been looking for. I wear a solid size 8 with narrow feet and the 38 is perfect. Thank you for making such beautiful shoes!

5 out of 5 starsBeautiful shoes. I love the leather, the style and the comfort. I didn’t notice it in the photos, but the wedge heel has kind of angular cuts which makes it an even more unique shoe. I’ll definitely be getting more now that I’ve confirmed my size! Absolutely recommend.

About SevillaSmith
A story of primitive modern shoes
Hi there! I'm Faye Sevilla Smith, a shoemaker living between Philadelphia and Barcelona.
I spend 3-9 months a year traveling, being inspired by things and people around me. The thing about traveling so much, you are simultaneously inspired aesthetically, yet you have a yearning to have less "stuff". You appreciate so much simple, daily beauty and become increasingly selective about the things that you call "mine". But most importantly, you always ache for comfortable shoes. While travelling, I see people around the world completely at ease in their singular, slow fashion pair of shoes, cherished, loved, and lived in. I find that utilitarian simplicity and versatility in the shoes of people in places like Marrekech and Africa absolutely inspirational. Their shoes need to be appropriate in so many varied situations and I think the modern person wants their shoes to be the same. So I try to design shoes that are at ease in the many wonderful situations that we find ourselves in.
I worked as a costume supervisor on films for almost 20 years. My process for coming up with a design is still very similar to my film work. I start with a character, or often a friend, and think of their personality and style, their wardrobe, their day to day lives. From there I think of which shoes they would wear and sketch it on anything I can find, a fairly identical beginning process for film costuming. I draw out the design on a shoe last to make my patterns. The first prototype I make is always in my size (perks!) so I can test drive it for a while to see if it's really livable and lovable. So here I offer my shoes that I make in the attic of my house in Philadelphia, and sometimes in my flat or workshop in Barcelona, possibly even a Riad in Marrakech.

To be honest, the length measurement is not truly the best indicator of your shoe size as each foot has such 3dimensional needs. The best is to use your most typical shoe size that you buy. If you are between sizes, then pick the smaller of the two as hand lasted leather is meant to fit snugly and mold to your foot's need.
*****
see FAQ instructions on how to measure length
How to measure your length?
If you would like the length to compare, then the best way to measure your feet at home is to tape a piece of paper on the floor against a wall (avoid wall molding). Stand with your heel firmly against the wall and have someone else mark the tip of your longest toe. Measure the end of the paper to the mark.
When measuring the length of your feet, keep in mind a comfortable fit is 3 dimensional, not just length. The diference between sizes can be as little as 5mm so it is best to have someone else measure you instead of doing yourself to minimize error.
*****
My length is different from my size I usually wear?
Typically if one measures in length smaller than the size they typically wear, it could be for a variety of reasons:
1-incorrect measuring (very difficult to measure one's self correctly and there is as few as 3mm difference in length between sizes
2-While you measure a particular size in length, the volume that your foot needs is of the size you typically wear. In that case, I would recommend going with the smaller of your "off the rack" size. For example, if you usually wear an 8.5 or 9 US, then you should order a 8.5 or 39 (8-8.5) with my shoes.
When in between, it depends on the style and leather you choose, just email me and let me know which you are thinking about. A snug fit is ideal.
Custom and personalized orders
Unless you wear a size Wide off the rack we do not typically recommend it.
But many people do go thru their whole lives inadvertantly sizing up for their width by going up a size altogether. While this is fine for shoes with stiffeners, shoes with no stiffeners should be snug for a proper fit.
If you find that your length is actually a size smaller than you ever wear, then I would recommend that size lasted wide. For wide lasting, we add some volume to our shoe molds at the width and towards the toes. Essentially, the leather has more volume across the width, but not necessarily wider footbed (much like a sock).
