Announcement   Welcome to Sew Fine! Home of the original "Soccasins"!
Fall is just around the corner! And since my Soccasins are made from wool, that makes them the perfect footwear for the constantly changing temperatures. Wool is renowned for it's ability to regulate body temperature. Its natural insulating quality, and ability to shed water results in a fabric that keeps a body warm, even when wet. In the summer, wool's coil-like shape pulls excess heat and moisture from your skin, helping you stay cooler.
My Soccasins are made from repurposed 100% wool sweaters of various types or blends (including merino and cashmere). On occasion, I will repurpose sweaters that are up to 20% non-wool fiber, but I specify when that is the case. I prefer wool for it's many great properties.
I use leather remnants from a local leather shop for the footpad and over the toes and heels. I have a lot of fun combining colors of leather and wool to make each pair of soccasins unique.
I repurpose wool from winter coats and use it as felted wool pads for the foot beds.
Be sure to stop by often to see what's new! Feel free to contact me with special size, colors or style requests.

HERE'S HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT SIZE:
First, measure your feet by tracing onto a piece of paper.

For baby and small children, add about 1/2 inch for growing room.

For adults, choose the size that closely matches your foot length. A snug fit is ideal as these do stretch slightly.

I carefully measure and size them according to the length, being as precise as possible. I mention both the exterior length and interior (considering about 1/4 inch seam on either end). I base the size on the INTERIOR measurement. I use a shoe size conversion chart to decide on sizing. The sizing should be the same as your shoe size.

The fit is not as crucial as when buying shoes as these are somewhat like socks. It's just that the leather on these can only stretch to accommodate a smaller range of foot sizes.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

Also, be sure to read my reviews. I am pleased to have a good track record of happy customers and I plan to do my best to keep it that way.

Welcome to Sew Fine! Originally, my Etsy shop was opened as a side venue for me to post things I've made in my spare time while operating a tailoring and alterations shop in town by the same name. As of Sept. of 2013, I closed my shop in town and now am able to devote more time to what I really love.......creating sewn goods from repurposed materials for my Etsy shop! Be sure to stop by often to see what's new.

My specialty is my Soccasins (named by our youngest of 4 children). I can't claim the name since it's a name given to describe any sock or slipper that also has characteristics of a moccasin. However, I thought it was quite a fitting word for my 10 year old to come up with.

I came up with the idea of sewing the Soccasins in October 2012, after I purchased a pair of socks with leather on the sole from the MOA. The leather soon started to come off the bottom so I started brainstorming how I could make a pair. I decided, if a person could make mittens from wool sweaters, why couldn't you make socks from wool sweaters?
