¡Bienvenidos a Costura a las Diez!
Haz lo que amas y no trabajarás ni un día de tu vida. Una de mis citas favoritas y muy cierta. Me siento muy afortunada de poder hacer esto todos los días.
Entonces, ¿de dónde viene el nombre? ¿Coso a las 10 a. m., a las 10 p. m.? Sí a ambas cosas, pero comencé a coser a la edad de 10 años. ¡Pensé que era algo "pegadizo" cuando se me ocurrió! A mi hijo le acaban de hacer un tatuaje y lo agregaron en su pecho como regalo de Navidad para MÍ. Justo lo que quería....
Voy a ahorrarles la larga historia de mi vida como costurera y solo les diré que he cosido prácticamente todo lo que se les ocurra. Incluso comencé una línea infantil al por mayor cuando mis dos hijos eran pequeños. Fue muy divertido vender en las boutiques. Como resultado de mi negocio de costura, mi hija se convirtió en modelo infantil, así que puedes adivinar lo que pasó entonces. ¡Mamá dejó de coser y empezó a llevar a ese niño por todo Wisconsin para sesiones de fotos! Avancé millones de años, pasando por diferentes trabajos, escuelas y carreras, hasta 2015, cuando mi esposo pensó que debería intentar coser nuevamente. ¡Qué chico! Había sido transcriptor durante 10 años en nuestro hospital local y mi jefa, una hermosa quilter, me había contagiado el gusanillo del quilting. El resto es historia.
Entonces, aquí estoy, 56 años después, mientras estoy componiendo esto, sigo cosiendo, todavía me encanta y ¡no tengo intención de parar! Welcome to Sewing at Ten!
Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. One of my favorite quotes and so very true. I feel very fortunate to be able to do this every day.
So, where did the name come from? Do I sew at 10 a.m., 10 p.m.? Yes to both of those things, but I started sewing at the age of 10. I thought it was kind of "catchy" when I came up with it! My son just had a tattoo created and added to his chest as a Christmas gift to ME. Just what I wanted....
I am going to spare you the long drawn-out story of my sewing life and just say that I've sewn pretty much everything you can think of. I even started a wholesale children's line when my two kids were little. That was a lot of fun selling to the boutiques. As a result of my sewing business, my daughter turned into a child model so you can guess what happened then. Mom stopped sewing and started driving that kid all over Wisconsin for photo shoots! Speed ahead a gazillion years, passing different jobs, school, careers to 2015 when my husband thought I should try the sewing again. What a guy! I had been a transcriptionist for 10 years at our local hospital and had gotten the quilting bug from my boss, a beautiful quilter. The rest is history.
So, here I am, 56 years later, as I'm composing this, still sewing, still loving it, and don't intend to stop!
