About

A lifelong dream...

Like many, many people here on Etsy, it has been my lifelong dream to make and sell my own products.

When I was a kid growing up in Connecticut, we often drove to Ohio and Massachusetts to see my grandparents. My mother had a rule in the car that you couldn't sit and do nothing. Now that I'm a mom, I know this rule was so my two sisters and I would keep our hands to ourselves! Since this was during the pre-minivan era we were cramped three across in a sedan so our choices were to read, needlepoint or cross-stitch. I was five years old when I did my first needlepoint (called Quick Point because the canvas was so huge) and I've been hooked ever since!

On one trip to Ohio in elementary school, my grandmother took me to a local craft supply store (pre-Michaels and Jo-Ann's!) and I got a book on making pom pom teddy bears. I decided I would make and sell them at the local consignment shop in our YWCA. I didn't sell very many but I LOVED making them and ever since then I've been hooked on the idea of making things to sell.

Over the years, my mom taught me how to knit and my grandmother taught me how to sew. While I love doing both, there's something about the magic of fabric that just makes me so happy.

After my twin boys were born in 2010, I quit my job in sales and stayed home with them. As Kindergarten started approaching, I began to think about what I wanted to do for my new job (my old job involved lots of travel so that was out!) and thanks to Etsy, I began to seriously consider opening my own shop selling handmade items.

Then one day a friend of mine sent me a photo of a crayon holder she saw and asked me if I could make one. Turns out, the night before I had just seen similar ideas on Pinterest! I decided to play around with it to see if I could create something that I liked and voila! My first product was born!

Once my boys started Kindergarten in the Fall of 2015, I started making crayon holders and other products that I knew would be useful to parents in particular - things I either needed now or wish I had had when the boys were younger. Everything I make I choose because it's a product I either use or would use if my kids were the right ages! Once I have the product picked out, fabric selection comes next - the best part! I LOVE color and anything that exudes happiness. I want to have fun making it - and more importantly, I want you to have fun using it!

I hope that when you look through my shop the products you see make you smile!
