Announcement    It is almost time to return to school, and we all know that signals that Summer is coming to an end. With Autumn and Fall coming, be on the lookout for new items. We will be adding to the Fall collection, as well as the Halloween. We have also started planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas. With all that is going on, there is no telling what is going to be added to the shop. Be sure to check back every now and then, or you will miss the new things.

If you are wanting a custom quilt to give as a Christmas present, I know it's early, but you need to get your order in. All available slots are filling quickly, and in order to guarantee it being there by Christmas there will be a cut off date for ordering, in order to make sure that everyone gets the quilt they want.

One of the great things about having my sister Marion helping me. is the diversity that she brings. Not only does she sew well, have a good eye for colors, but she also crochets very well. Because she has joined my shop, we will be offering some crocheted items, as well as the main fabric items. A we develop this new line, the items will be listed in the category they fit in. Be sure to check back and see what new items she has created.

Don't forget to check the Sale Bin/Clearance section. There is nothing wrong with the items in the sale bin. They are all handcrafted with the same care as everything else. Sometimes we need more room, and other times, it is just because I felt like putting that item on sale! The items in the Sale Bin will probably change periodically, so be sure to check back. You never know what will go in the Sale Bin!

If you don't see what you are looking for, just message us and we will be happy to create your item just for you. You get your perfect table setting, coasters, mug rugs, hot pads, and more, with your own choice of fabric. You can choose your design and all the finishes as well. Just send me a message and we can start work on your ideal needs today.

Remember most anything that you see in this shop, with a picture connected is ready to ship unless otherwise stated. If you custom order off an item, we will create it and ship it as quickly as we can, but will not sacrifice quality for expediency.

Don't forget to look at the Memory Quilts, keepsake quilts, or T shirt quilts, in addition to the other quilts I make. They are wonderful, unique gifts for your loved ones, and no two are alike. Each one is created with items that you send us, and with colors you choose. You manage the outcome of every one of these memory quilts, after all, they are your memories.

If you are looking for a custom quilt, with a color theme , or just an idea of what you want, then just message us and together we can create your custom quilt, or throw, all made to your specifications. From the fabrics used, to the threads, and batting used, you will have the final choice. They normally take anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks to construct, depending on design and fabric choices.

We love making someones table look like what they have in their mind and don't mind custom orders at all. We love to look for that perfect fabric, or fabrics, that will be converted into the placemats, table runners, table cloths, coasters, or napkins of your choice. If you want just 2 place settings or 20 settings everything gets the same attention, detail and customizing. We can do table linens for parties, weddings, anniversaries, or just to have a new look in your home.

Go ahead and order your custom table settings, and custom quilts or throws today. You have one stop shopping for everything, including for the housewarmings you are invited too, and unique wedding gifts for that special couple.

About

I love creating special unique items by mixing fabrics, colors and patterns.

I took a sewing class in high school, and our final test was to make a dress and then wear it to school all day for our grade. My dress had a middle casing for a tie in it, and needless to say that casing got sewn in all whopper jaw. I wore it to school that day, but decided that sewing clothing was a lot harder than it looked. My Mother was an excellent seamstress and could whip up anything, but I didn't have that talent.
My husband bought my first sewing machine for me and I ended up making curtains for our house, and tried my hand again at sewing some clothes. I worked full time in accounting and finance and didn't have much time to always sit down and sew. I still have pieces of clothing that I started and never finished. I did little with that machine besides the curtains and sewing up seams that were always ripping in our children's clothes. I wanted to be a stay at home mom, and make nice homemade things, but at that time we just couldn't afford it.
Skip forward a few years, and now I don't work outside the home. I went about it backwards and even though I would like to join the work force again, I can't due to medical problems. My husband decided to buy me another sewing machine, and I started making table linens. My grandmother always had fresh linens on her table, and used linen napkins for special dinners. You always used a place mat at her house whether it was for a sandwich or a three course meal. I could never find the exact look I was going for in the department stores, so I started sewing my own. I found that I was able to create different patterns, and colors, by sewing my own table linens. I figured there were others out there, like me, who couldn't find that certain look in their table linens either, so I opened my shop. I enjoy quilting as well, and started using some quilt style blocks in my table linens. I enjoy finding the fabric and then mixing and matching till I get a finished piece. I am always searching for that perfect fabric that will allow me to be creative and design something new and unique
I came up with my name because there was always a question of what I would sew when I bought the fabric, hence the SewWhat. The by Mindy Kay is because that is the nickname that my dad and grandmother always had for me. I thought it was perfect, since it was my grandmother that taught me how to "dress" a table. I think of my mother and grandmother every time I sit down to sew. I sew a lot more than table linens now, but the main core of my shop and inspiration is due to my mother and my grandmother.
