About

About My Shabby 2 Chic Kitchen

Welcome to my Shabby 2 Chic Kitchen! Over 5 years ago, I began rescuing vintage kitchen items and cookbooks. I believe vintage has stood the test of time and brings with it a beautiful legacy of love and service. Vintage is now the preferred choice for my own kitchen and I started Shabby 2 Chic Kitchen to share this passion for giving new life to vintage.

I take pride in searching out abandoned and forgotten vintage kitchen wares. Which means every item in my store has a story to tell and has enjoyed a very active life of service over previous decades. I’m passionate about resorting these sometimes shabby pieces and ultimately matching them to new homes where they will be loved and given new life.

I specialize in vintage Arcoroc, Corning Ware, Visions and Pyrex, and the items I sell typically have visible signs of use such as scuff marks, surface scratches, fading, etc. I do not try to hide or disguise these badges of service but rather celebrate them. This is the proof of durability, of well-loved life, of useful service. And it is my hope that you will love these hard-working vintage pieces and give them proud new life in your kitchen.

Frequently asked questions

Do you clean my items before shipping?

Yes, I clean everything. There is nothing worse than having to scrub off filth and residue from your vintage purchase before you can use the item. I thoroughly clean all items to remove marks, mineral deposits, residue, and stains. I have a lot of experience cleaning vintage glassware and if it can be removed, I will do everything possible to remove it. I want you to be able to enjoy your item as soon as you receive it.

I do not use chlorine bleach or oven cleaner and I mostly avoid Bar Keepers Friend.

Is the shipping cost accurate? Is insurance included?

The shipping costs shown are estimates and I refund any shipping overage over $1.00. I do not charge packaging fees - you pay what I pay. Please send me an Etsy conversation for a more exact shipping estimate for your zip code.

I always ship via USPS Priority Mail. Priority Mail includes tracking and insurance and the Post Office seems to treat priority mail packages with greater care. The shipping costs are calculated using the most distant U.S. shipping zip code.

Do you provide refunds for damaged items?

Yes. If your purchase arrives in a condition that does not match the item listing description, you will receive a full refund (including shipping costs). Save all packaging materials and items (even if broken or damaged) and contact me for instructions.

What do you use for packaging?

I use foam wrap, bubble wrap, and crumpled paper. First I wrap your item in plastic wrap to protect from dirt and dust during shipment. Next I wrap the item in foam wrap. Finally, I wrap the item in bubble wrap and secure it with easy-to-remove painter’s tape. Crumpled paper is used to fill any empty spaces in the box. Every box is then strapped with reinforced packing tape and all flaps are sealed with decorative tape to discourage tampering.

I never use styrofoam blocks, broken pieces of styrofoam, or packing peanuts. These can leave pesky little pieces floating throughout your home and they are a pain to clean up.

For details on how I package your items, please see my shop video: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Shabby2ChicKitchen#about

Do you offer gift receipts and gift wrapping?

I am happy to provide a gift receipt and to ship to any address you specify within the United States. Send me an Etsy conversation prior to placing your oder with the details of your request. My primary objective in packaging your vintage cookware is to ensure your pieces arrive undamaged. Due to the awkward and fragile nature of vintage glassware, I unfortunately can not offer gift wrapping.

How fast do you respond to questions?

I encourage and welcome you to ask questions about any item via an Etsy conversation. I typically will respond within an hour or two, although questions sent late at night may not be answered until the following morning.
