About

I am a mixed media artist, a maker of much and I live the creative life daily.

eclectic [i'klektic] : Adj: deriving ideas, style or taste from a broad & diverse range of sources.

Shabby Cottage Adorned is a new shop but I am not a new artist. :) I have been working in the arts for the past 20+ years, painting, teaching and selling.

To be honest I used to only dabble in jewelry because I knew that if I threw my whole heart into it there would be no going back. And guess what? I was right! I committed myself, and my time, to exploring jewelry and all its delights, and as with all art I have committed to, it quickly became a full blown passion.

I love so many different aspects of jewelry making...

the thrill of the torch, the power behind the flame when hard metal turns soft or molten liquid, the ssst of hot metal quenched in water, removing blackened fire scale to reveal the beauty beneath...

having the ability to take flat, boring sheet metal, and by bending, forming, shaping, forging, creating something from nothing...

the choosing and coming together of components, fitting them together like the pieces of a puzzle... does this fit there? No? How about here? Oh wait, right here is the sweet spot it fits...

the magic that is liquid resin...the mixing and pouring, the final result of a hard glass like substance that enhances anything you place under it...

I am a creative junkie with a split personality! There is my sparkly/blingy romantic side, my graffiti/grunge side, and my vintage love with a nod to modern side... my personalities often bleed one into the other as I bring my designs to life through layers, contrast, texture and patina.

What can I say? It ALL thrills me!

Since this shop is new you can check out my other Etsy store and read my reviews if you like. I have been selling online since 2007 with my own website, and then my Etsy store. My blog has been around just as long. I am also known as https://www.etsy.com/shop/shabbycottagestudio
and my blog is the same name http://www.shabbycottagestudio.net.

Hello and welcome. My name is Gail Schmidt and I am the "everything" behind this, my newest Etsy store: Shabby Cottage Adorned https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShabbyCottageAdorned AND my longtime store, Shabby Cottage Studio. https://www.etsy.com/shop/shabbycottagestudio

I'm so happy you stopped by! I am a mixed media artist who has brought my 20+ years of art experience to the creation of my jewelry pieces.

I am a one woman operation and everything I create is done piece by piece, by hand, by me. Like most artists I I love what I do and I pour my heart, my passion, and my soul into my work.

Although it goes against the grain of a lot of business theory....It is not within me to create anything I myself wouldn't love.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept PayPal, Credit Cards and Etsy Gift Cards, all through Etsy. Options are listed on the check out page. If you order more than one item, once I know the shipping cost I will refund any difference over a $1.00.

If you truly get confused just contact me and I will do my best to make the experience easier for you.

I do my utmost to get you the best pictures I can, and on my monitor the colors are all correct, but remember, all monitors are different and there may be some slight differences in color depending on your own monitor.

This is my second store and only recently opened, so I do not have any sales/reviews built up yet, but you can check out my longtime sister shop to see what my customers have to say about me and my products. https://www.etsy.com/shop/shabbycottagestudio/reviews?ref=shop_info
Shipping
♦♦♦SHIPPING OPTIONS♦♦♦

My two shipping options are USPS First Class or USPS Priority Mail. All my jewelry is placed in a gift box and ready to present as a gift if so desired. If you choose First Class the gift box will be shipped in a bubble envelope. If you choose Priority the gift box will be placed into a Priority shipping box.

♦♦♦Shipping when Ordering Multiple Items♦♦♦
If you order multiple items I will ship them in a box that they can fit in.Anything over 13 oz must go USPS Priority Mail.

I find Priority the safest, fastest, and easiest track-able way to ship your treasure. I love all my creations and want them to arrive just as safely to it's new home as you do.

If you prefer insurance (a small fee) please contact me.

♦♦♦INTERNATIONAL ORDERS♦♦♦
I have shipped International for years. I will ship outside the U.S. but due to extreme postal rates to different countries simply send me a convo and I will quote you an exact rate for your country.
Refunds and Exchanges
Sizes are described to the best of my ability. And hopefully you have read the description before purchasing. But if the worst case scenario happens and you find an item is too large or too small, please let me know within 24 hours of receipt.

At that point I can offer one of these choices:

1. You can return the item in new and unworn condition, just as you received it in it's box. ♦♦♦I must receive the item back within 10 days.♦♦♦ Once I have the item back and there are no issues with it, I will refund the purchase price less the shipping cost.

2. If you want to exchange it for something else in my shop I am willing to do that once I have the original piece back with the same conditions applied as mentioned above in #1. If there is a price difference I will bill (or refund) you for the difference once I am ready to ship the new piece.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR WRIST FOR A BRACELET
Measure your wrist with a flexible tape measurement or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear the bracelet. If you are use a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen or pencil. You can then use a ruler to measure the marked length. That would be your wrist size.

If you prefer a snug fit add 1/4" - 1/2" to your wrist size. For a little more of a comfort fit add approximately 3/4" - 1". If you like your bracelets very loose with lots of movement add about 1 1/4". It really is all about personal preference.
