Aloha and E Komo Mai! (Hello and Welcome!)

I'm thrilled that you found my Etsy shop and that you are interested enough in my work to learn more. If I don't answer all your questions below, please CONVO me either via the "contact ShaneRobinson" link in the right column or directly via email at etsy [!at]

I use a professional photo lab on the Mainland for all my photographic prints. This helps keep my costs down (I don't have to maintain a professional printer, inks, and paper here in the heavy humidity of the islands) and ensures that my prints are of the highest quality archival paper, inks, and materials currently available.

Living on an island, it's very important that we don't cause more material waste than we absolutely need to. So your items will be re-packed in the same professional packaging in which they were shipped to me.

If you would like to learn a bit more about me you check out my Etsy Profile by clicking on the "Profile" link in the right column or at any of the sites listed below:
This is our 14 year old consulting and development company at which I'm a Partner with the brilliant, lovely, and exceptionally talented Ms. Roxanne Darling (and yes, we're partners in life also.)

Please note that Etsy does not allow us to use the proper diacritical marks that belong to the Hawaiian language.

Returns and exchanges
I want you to love my work as much as I love creating it. If you don't, no worries. Send it back within 2 weeks (14 days) and I'll refund the sales price (but not the shipping costs, sorry).

If you are going to return something, first CONVO me here on Etsy or send me an email at etsy [!at] and let me know you're returning the item(s) and the reason.

If the item(s) were damaged in shipping, I will gladly replace them with the same item(s) as soon as I receive the original items, in the original packaging, showing proof of the shipping damage.

If you're returning a damaged item, or the work does not meet your expectations in any way, returning it is as easy as 1-2-3:

1. Return it within 2 weeks, in the condition in which it was received, including the packaging in which it was received. Also be sure to include the Certificate of Authenticity with the returned item.

2. Use either First Class USPS, FedEx, or UPS with shipping insurance, tracking, and delivery confirmation so we know where it is during transit and in case it gets lost. No tracking and delivery confirmation, no refund.

3. You'll have to cover the return shipping costs but I'll cover the shipping costs of the replacement item(s).
I accept and prefer payments via PayPal and please note, you DO NOT have to have a PayPal account to use PayPal. You can use your Credit Card to make purchases via PayPal. Please make your PayPal payment within 3 days of placing your order. If you don't, no worries. I'll just cancel your order and re-list the item you purchased to make it available for someone else.
Everything is shipped from Hawaii. So it takes an extra day or two versus items from sellers that ship from the Mainland.

I don't store a pile of prints here in Hawaii just waiting for them to sell. Once your payment clears, I place your order in my Order Queue which I process every week. Batching orders each week also saves time and money since all my work has to be FedEx'd to Hawaii. Once I receive the prints from my printer, I inspect, sign and date, and repack for shipment to you (along with some personal notes and Hawaiian Aloha.)

Your item(s) will be shipped via First Class USPS mail with delivery confirmation. I send to the name and address listed in your Etsy profile, so please ensure it is current and correct. If your Etsy address does not match your PayPal address, please contact me or place a note in the Message field during your order to ensure your item(s) are shipped to the address you prefer.

If you require an item ASAP, please CONVO me and I will be happy to provide a FedEx shipping quote and can process your order outside my regular Order Queueing process. This will allow you to receive your order in 5-7 days instead of the usual 10-14 days.

International Orders: Shipping outside of the United States may require additional customs or duty fees that will be added to the shipping costs. If you are outside the United States and purchasing items on Etsy you are no doubt already aware of this and understand that these additional fees will be added to your order.
Additional policies and FAQs
Questions you may be thinking of:

Q: Why do you live in Hawaii?
A: Why would I live anywhere else? Silly question. Next.

Q: Do you donate any proceeds of the sales of your work to charity?
A: Actually, yes I do! 10% of every item that I sell goes into a dedicated ING Direct savings account. At the end of the year I send the full amount, plus all interest accrued, to "Animals Asia" ( I've supported them for several years and am excited to add the proceeds from my Etsy sales to that support!

A: And before you ask, No. Jill Robinson, the founder of Animals Asia, and I share the same Last Name but we are not related (as far as I know) and I've never met her. I sincerely respect her work and deeply admire her and the dedicated of her team.

Q: These are photographs? Seriously? Looks like you do a lot of work in Photoshop...
A: I know!!! Yes. Seriously, these are photographs straight from my Canon DSLR. The only post processing I do is remove dust spots that find their way onto the lens. It's difficult keeping lenses clean here in the salty trade winds of the island.

Q: Can your photographs be printed smaller or larger?
A: Absolutely! CONVO me or email me at etsy [!at] and let me know what size would work best for you.

Q: Can your photographs be printed on canvas or other materials?
A: Absolutely! Stretched or loose canvas. Convo or email me for additional information.

Q: Do you do other types of photography? Like portraits, landscapes, weddings, or custom orders.
A: Yes... and No. Definitely NOT weddings. I've done portraits for friends and family but it doesn't really excite me or fuel my creative fires right now. Living in Hawaii you might think I would naturally do a lot of landscape, beach, and ocean photography. But it's done so much that I haven't yet found my own unique or creative take on it. I do love shooting palm trees and there will probably be Palm Tree photos here in my Etsy store soon (if not already by the time you're reading this.)

Q: If I wanted to purchase a bunch of your work for gifts, could I get a discount?
A: Absolutely! Not only would there be a substantial savings on shipping a bunch of items at the same time, I would be happy to offer a great discount on each item. Just CONVO me with your information and we'll work it out.

Q: I own a brick and mortar gallery (or several) and would love to carry your work. Are you interested in gallery representation?
A: Absolutely! Items listed on Etsy are all Limited Editions, signed, dated, numbered, and priced accordingly. I also have other Photography projects and series in the works that won't be displayed on Etsy. Check out my website at and/or you can email me at etsy [!at] with questions.

Q: Would you come to my house and photograph things around my house in the style of your abstract works here on Etsy?
A: Absolutely! In fact, we're already developing a unique customized service around this idea. Check out my website or Facebook fan page (links above) and sign up for my email list to be notified when we roll out this service.

Q: You mention painting but I don't currently see any paintings listed on your Etsy store or your website?
A: Good question. As I'm answering this, I'm not yet ready to sell my paintings. Photography is an immediate process for me. Painting, I've come to find, is a much more meditative and time consuming process for me. I am currently very comfortable and excited about by Photographic process and style I've developed. Not so much for my paintings. Stay tuned and join my email list to be notified when I begin showing my paintings.

Q: What does the words "maka 'ike" mean? I see them in your shop graphic.
A: From (Hawaiian online dictionary): To see clearly and with keen powers of observation; to see more than most, especially to see supernatural things or ghosts not seen by others; to have the gift of second sight. Lit., seeing eye.

Did I answer your questions? If not please CONVO me here on Etsy or email me directly at etsy [!at] and I will be delighted to answer any and all questions you may have to the best of my ability.

Aloha and Mahalo!!
