Very nice smelling soap.
We make a soap for EVERYBODY!
I've been in love with nature, animals, and the outdoors ever since I can remember. I grew up on a beautifully green piece of land not too far from the coast in Oregon. Our house overlooked the Coquille River, which flooded the whole valley every winter during the rainy season. For an outdoorsey child, you can probably only imagine how much fun my brothers and I had rowing cattle troughs around the flooded pasture and fishing in the water-covered garden when the river had gone over it's steep banks during the rainy season.
My parents were the absolute BEST, and they indulged my passion for HORSES! Later on, knowing how much I loved baby animals, they brought me home an adorable baby goat! I was hooked! Goats are absolutely the most entertaining and sweet animals in the world!
As an adult, I've never lost my love for horses or goats and we have quite a few of each of them. I learned to make soap several years ago when I realized that I needed to do something with all the milk my Alpine Dairy Goats were producing. I turned to soapmaking because I've always loved handmade soaps. Not too long after that, my business, Shantara's Soaps was born.
I am completely self-employed and love it! Making things that other people will enjoy is the most wonderful experience in the world and I'm so glad I am able to do it.
The business has grown by leaps and bounds and we've sent soap all over the world. My daughter and I have a great time meeting new people at craft fairs, festivals and other events as well as all the wonderful folks who buy my soap online.
Owner, Head Milk Maid, Sheppardess, Tattooer (just Goat Ears), And Soapmaker.
My name is Anita and I have had a love affair with all things hand made ever since I can remember. After getting goats and being swamped with more milk than I knew what to do with, I decided I'd try making soap and I've been at it ever since!
This is my daughter Shannon and her son Ryland. Shannon has helped me in the business since day one. Ryland likes to help too, and is great at applying labels and passing out soap samples at festivals.

I use flat rate shipping almost exclusively. If a customer orders just 1 bar of soap though, it is more economical to ship that small order in a padded envelope. In addition to regular flat rate shipping, I can now also offer Regional Rate Priority Shipping. This is a two day service that will save customers in my zone a lot of money on shipping. I will be more than happy to figure out the most economical way to ship prior to you placing your order.
I only charge exact rates for shipping. I utilize the large amounts of recycled filler items such as bubble wrap and paper padding that I receive when ordering supplies, and am able to pass that savings on to my customers by not having to charge for shipping supplies. Any overages over $1 will be promptly refunded to you.
Shipping rates are as follows.
1 bar: $3.00 shipped in a padded envelope
2-4 bars, $5.00, ships in a small flat rate box ( to save on shipping for approx. 5-8 bars, I can ship in a padded flat rate envelope for the same flat rate of $5.00.
5-8 bars ships in a padded envelope for $5.00
8- 21 bars $10.00, ships in a med. flat rate box or a regional rate A if possible.
22-48 bars $14.00, ships in a large flat rate box or a regional rate B if that is an option. (Occasionally I can squeeze 50 bars in the box.)
Sometimes the Etsy sites are a little wonky when it comes to getting the shipping right on an order, but I GUARANTEE that if you are overcharged by more than $1, you will be promptly refunded!
Regional Rate Boxes.
These are fairly new boxes and rates that I will utilize whenever possible and will save approximately half on shipping. If you are in my region I will use a regional rate A box instead of a padded envelope for orders over 4 soaps, or orders that contain items that are too bulky for the small flat rate box.
If you have any questions about shipping either before or after you order, don't hesitate to contact me and I will assure that you get the best shipping rate possible or refund overages if Etsy has charged you more for shipping than it actually costs. (I refund overages all the time)
