Welcome to my Etsy store, where you will find solid silver and gold fine jewelry made by my hands only.

I have been adorning people since 1998 and have a BFA in Metal Design from the UW, Seattle.

Because my jewelry is made using hand fabrication processes, it has lightness, durability and detail unachievable via mass production.

I use silver and gold with a 50- 90% post consumer content from Hauser and Miller, precious metals manufacturer since 1909. They purchase from fair labor practicing mines. I believe that purchasing high quality jewelry with a post consumer content that is repairable and recyclable is very important.

I make jewelry in small batches, minimizing waste, use of resources and strengthening the metal by using hand forming techniques en lieu of casting processes.

I use solid gold or bimetal instead of plating in my gold jewelry. Sheets of 22k or 18k gold are fused with sterling silver. The result is repairable, easily recyclable and avoids the use of cyanide solutions needed for plating.

I am proud to create finely crafted jewelry that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

I love my dapping block that I made from local maple many years ago. I use it in the forming process of making all my perforated dangle earrings. They are very lightweight and comfortable. As you move light shimmers through the holes.
A selection of my jewelry is now available in my home town at The Jewel Of Port Townsend, A beautiful jewelry store with estate and antique jewelry and me! My work is in the front window in the amazing antique case from an old San Francisco jewelry store.

About

Sharon Saint Don

Starting with sterling silver and gold, all my work is created using hand fabrication techniques. Cutting, punching, soldering, and hammering afford my jewelry a lightness, durability and detail unachievable via mass production.

The raw materials I start with are silver and gold in sheet, tubing, wire and nugget forms. I transform these precious metals into jewelry using mostly hand tools and some power tools.

Making work in small batches makes for careful use of materials and minimizes waste. I do not use casting processes or molds for my work, and most of my designs employ metal forming techniques that strengthen the metal through hand hammered, forged processes.

My line of jewelry is unique in that I do not use plating for any of my gold jewelry. Instead of plating, I use a modern material called "bimetal" for a portion of my jewelry line. Sheets of 22k gold are fused with sterling silver, bonding the two in permanent marriage. The result is durable, repairable, easily recyclable and its production avoids the use of acidic cyanide solutions needed for gold plating.

I fell in love with metal in the 1990's and completed my 5 year degree (BFA) in Metal Design at the UW Seattle in 1998. I have been making things out of metal for over 20 years, I love my work of making my clients happy with high quality, durable jewelry.

I purchase the majority of my metals from Hauser and Miller, a refiner and manufacturer of precious metals since 1909. They sell only metals sourced from certified conflict free and fair labor practicing mines. They also recycle precious metals and manufacture their stock from between 50% to 90% post consumer metals, which I find to be much more important than just recycled.

I sell only in select stores. Please contact me with some photos of your store, link to a web presence, and store information.

How do I care for my shiny sterling silver jewelry?

Minimize tarnishing and scratching by storing jewelry in a box, cloth or bag. Clean with hot water and soap and lightly polish with toothpaste or damp baking soda. Remove tarnishing with Sunshine brand polishing cloth, available at riogrande.com. On antiqued pieces, follow same procedure and then rub raised surfaces lightly with cloth. Please do not use dips or creams. Remove all jewelry while bathing and swimming- exposure to chlorine and salt weakens all metals. Please wear rubber ear nuts on ear wires to guarantee that they will not be lost.

How do I care for my oxidized black jewelry?

Minimize scratching by storing jewelry in a box, cloth or bag. Clean with hot water and soap and do not scrub with anything. Oxidized black pieces are lightly coated with an oil and beeswax salve, reapply if dull. Remove all jewelry while bathing and swimming- exposure to chlorine and salt weakens all metals and changes the colors. Please wear rubber ear nuts on ear wires to guarantee that they will not be lost. I am happy to repair pieces that break under normal use. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions! Oxidation may be redone easily for $5 plus shipping.

How will my jewelry be shipped and how long will it take to reach me?

All packages ship USPS mail with tracking. You can choose First Class mail, Priority Mail or Priority Express Mail. All purchases over $100 are sent fully insured.

These time frames may not be guaranteed by the postal carriers.

Shipping fees are not refundable.

Can you make your designs in solid gold?

Yes! I love to work in solid gold- contact me for a custom order and quote!
