It's hard on etsy to order a hoop and actually get a "gold hoop" not dipped in gold or really brass. As well as have someone be able to make genuine twiks to your piece. I love this hoop and reorder. Ever penny was worth it. Plus I got a little treat in my package! Sharon quick at messages and wants to make sure everything is going to be what you want. And it's a plus that she local... to me. Giving her all my Bay Area love.

Speedy arrival! This was a gift for a friend and I had told her it would not be here in time for her birthday but it came in just a few days and I was able to present it at her birthday dinner! It felt a bit risky buying a custom nose ring as a gift but it's elegance, uniqueness and quality proved I'm the best gift giver ever! Thanks sharonzimmerman! It's lovely on her face!

About

Moissanite and Post Consumer engagement rings in unique and not-so-ordinary styles

Sharon Zimmerman creates jewelry that is unique in its understatement—clean and simple, yet distinctive and playful.

Designed to compliment any style, her pieces are crafted by hand from an elegant palette of precious metals-sterling silver, palladium, 14 and 18 karat gold with just the occasional splash of color from lab-grown gemstones. She creates jewelry that you’ll want to wear every day for years to come.

Growing up in Seattle, she was fascinated by the interplay of nature and machinery from a young age. Surrounded by rings of mountains and evergreen trees, as well as the architecture of the aerospace industry, the artist learned to appreciate that the world is a wonderful mix of organic and geometric. Today, she continues to draw inspiration from her environment. The architecture of San Francisco inspires her sculptural, organically modern pieces, while the natural beauty of the Bay Area subtly informs her organic, abstract designs. Her travels around the world also influence her sophisticated aesthetic with a movement and energy of its own.

Encouraged by her parents to play with arts and crafts instead of the latest new-fangled toys, she grew up dreaming and creating. After a few stabs at other, less creative fields, she decided to take up metalsmithing in 2003. She studied with metal sculptors and jewelry makers during a brief stint in the Midwest before moving to San Francisco in 2005 to study jewelry making at the Revere Academy.

Sharon delights in designing and making pieces that people find expressive, beautiful, and treasurable. “Jewelry is the one art form that people interact with directly on a daily basis. It connects the wearer and the maker in a tactile and sensual relationship. This intimacy with art is what most interests me.”

She is a proud member of SFMade.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I accept most reasonable requests to customize existing work - chain lengthening and shortening (longer chains=higher price, just FYI), a change to the finish on a piece, a change to the color of the stone, etc.

Custom work is not usually the cost-effective route towards making jewelry for you, but it can be super rewarding! Keep in mind that requests to source a special stone or upgrade and existing product to solid gold will naturally result in an increase in the price.

I don't work with gold fill or gold plate. Why not? The gold layers on these products tends to wear off over time and require maintenance to keep the gold finish. Solid gold on the other hand is, well, solid. Consider the cost over the lifetime of your jewelry.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Each item comes in a lovely paper box and comes wrapped either with a silk ribbon (small boxes) or tied in a gorgeous fabric wrap (larger boxes).

Sizing details

Ring sizes are listed in American sizes, but can be easily converted to UK, Australian and European sizes.

Many of my rings can be resized after purchase if the fit isn't quite right. A few cannot. If you have any uncertainty about the size that you would like to order, please contact me in advance and I can help you. In the event that a ring size isn't right, I recommend mailing the rings back to me for resizing. If you are in the EU or Australia and don't want to incur outrageous shipping charges for a resize, please take the rings to a reputable jeweler, but, and this is a big one, put them in touch with me prior to sizing so that we can go over any concerns they might have.

Wholesale availability

Are you a store, boutique, major retailer, minor retailer or gallery interested in carrying my work? You are in luck! I sell over on Etsy Wholesale. Meet me over there!
