Welcome!

My name is Sharra (like share-a candy bar) Frank and I’ve been a mosaic artist for nearly twenty years. My first mosaic was made on the living room floor of my college apartment with plain white discarded tile, Elmer’s glue and a hammer. After smashing the tile to shards, I glued them onto a coffee table with Elmer’s Glue.

Later I would joke, “Hey, my first mosaic sale!”, when I sold all my furniture away to a fellow nanny friend. Little did I know mosaic art would later become my passion and profession.

Over the years, I began to specialize in community art mosaics, teaming up with youth and intergenerational groups to design and build murals for parks, markets and nonprofits. I’ve also created commissioned work for hospitals, designers and home owners. 

I’ve tried about every avenue to make a living as an artist- local to international exhibits, parking lot flea markets to upscale juried art fairs, teaching from community ed and art centers to mosaic conferences and schools around the US. I launched the first ever online mosaic course in 2012 from www.sharrasmosaicsecrets.com.

I opened my former warehouse studio to the public for years, greeting thousands of guests over single weekend events, participated in invitational home shows, gallery shows, catalogs and online stores. I’ve set up mosaic demonstrations at department stores, the state fair, art stores… you name it!

After all that, I'm currently focusing on slowing life down and honing in on personal work in a newly renovated home studio. What an amazing treat! I plan to have prints available here in my Etsy shop as I build inventory for a show.

I’m also a mother to a living, breathing mosaic of three sparkling spirits, ages 2, 6 & 9. They are my greatest masterpieces of all.
