Welcome to my Etsy shop. My name is Jim Shea and I've been a potter for over 20 years; first in the Northeast; then I spent a decade in Houston, Texas; and now I just moved to Boston MA. My focus is on functional pottery with an occasional raku or sculptural holiday. The functional pottery is food and dishwasher safe and can be used in a microwave or a regular oven.

I am intrigued by transformative properties of clay and glaze. Texture and pattern are applied to a form and then the form is stretched, creating a whole new thing. Glazes that are variable, unpredictable or that combine with another to melt and change in unpredictable ways fascinate me.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
Payment may be made by paypal, check, or money order. Remember that you can use your credit card on paypal without having to set up an account. If paid by check or money order, the piece will be shipped as soon as the check clears. Texas residents must add 8.25% sales tax.
Shipping
The rates I've set for shipping are based on shipping a piece across the country and are my best guess. Don't worry, I won't come back to you and ask for more money if I underestimated the cost.

If you live closer to me and the shipping is less expensive, there is a good chance that I'll issue a partial refund on the shipping once I've paid it. My goal is develop long term customers and you don't so that by gouging them.

Shipping will be by USPS or UPS, whichever is most economical and practical. Priority shipping is available for an additional charge.

If overseas, please contact me to arrange shipping.
Refunds and Exchanges
My goal is to have long-term, repeat customers.

If, for any reason, you aren't happy with one of my pieces, you can return it for a full refund of the purchase price (not including shipping charges). Simply contact me within 7 days of delivery and then return the piece in a reasonable time. The piece must be returned whole and undamaged and your money will be refunded in the same way you paid after the item has been received.

I take care to package each piece very carefully, but if a piece should arrive damaged, save the boxes and packing materials and contact me within 3 days of delivery. I will initiate a claim and either ship another piece or refund your money if necessary.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders and wholesale orders will be cheerfully considered. Custom orders will require a 50% deposit once we agree on shape, glaze and timetable.
