Announcement   I am offering a 20% off coupon right now! Just use the coupon code summer20.
I recently purchased nearly all the lace, linens and textiles from the private collection of a woman who has been an expert in the field of antique textiles for most of her life. These are not the things she had in her shops and shows, but her special treasures kept perfectly done up and lovingly stored in her home. As I unpack my boxes I am astounded at some of the things coming from them! The tambour lace bedspreads I have listed came from her (and there are more of those to be listed!), and I have an exquisite stack of collars and cuffs soon to be listed as well. I just photographed some remarkable linen cutwork and lace bedding and table covers too, and have just received classic Edwardian Battenburg lace round tablecloths.

I feature antique and vintage clothing and textiles with over 35 years of experience and I always keep a weather eye open for the unusual. I have hunted for years in the Paris and London flea markets, owned an antique clothing & textile shop in Seattle, and worked closely with some of the best and most knowledgeable people in the business. I have clients in the fashion industry who purchase antique clothing from me for new fashion inspiration and I have a full life's experience in vintage clothing which I use to identify and describe my offerings for sale so you can be assured of authenticity.

Wonderful things turn up here on Shellhunter365, both textile-related and other. I do keep my prices reasonable for what I am offering, and I have for sale fairly rare and seldom seen items as well as sound wearable antique and vintage clothing.

If your language is not English, PLEASE take the trouble to translate the description so you can completely understand what you are purchasing. I do my very best to select and sell garments in amazing condition according to their age, but when they have issues I do outline them. That is why it's important to read it all, as is true when purchasing any used or antique items on line.
Below is a list of countries outside the USA I do ship to which provide USPS international tracking.

Thank you so much to all the Etsy members who include my things in their treasuries, it's an honor for my items to be admired;-)
Unfortunately I do not do layaways, partial payments or swaps. I will be happy to reserve listings for about 10 days for serious buyers, though.
I will respond to convos and emails as quick as I can and thanks so much for your interest in Shellhunter!

The parasol is absolutely gorgeous! I never thought I'd find an antique parasol for reenacting that's both in usable condition and reasonably priced, but this is perfect. Plus I received it just a couple of days after ordering. Thanks so much! I can't wait to use it at an event.

About

Shop Of Dreams

I opened 140 Years, my antique clothing and textile shop, on Alki Beach in Seattle about 17-18 years ago. At the time it was the only retail shop on Alki Beach though there had been some before me and were quite a few after.
I was inspired by my life-long love of antique clothing and a friendship with a remarkable woman everyone simply called Madame who had operated her own romantic antique clothing shop in Seattle for 35 years. She was just getting ready to retire from shop ownership when I was preparing to open mine, and she was a continuing source of knowledge, respect and understanding of textiles and their beauty, clothing and its history.
In order to stock my shop with the quality I was looking for, I traveled to the Paris and London flea markets twice a year to acquire remarkable pieces of history. My clientele would eagerly await my return to get first pick of my finds.
Other things happen in people's lives to change their direction in unexpected sharp turns, and I am no exception. Family members died, their children sacrificed to lesser parents, and I was left with a desire to move my business not only online but out of the country, preferably to Paris. A surgery intervened and I accomplished half of my goals, taking my business entirely online about 15 years ago. Ebay in those days was a grand place to sell antique clothing from but I feel it became less so as large retailers took over a lot of the business that happened there. I can't blame ebay for wanting to be as huge as they are; success is good, but often it can be at the sacrifice of higher goals.
Voila, etsy came along and I find them to be, as ebay used to be, a fine place to be the purveyor of antique goods from...even though I see large businesses masquerading as small ones encroaching here as well. Hopefully etsy will be more vigilant than their predecessor! I still sell newer boutique items on ebay, specializing in linen and art clothing.
I have a 35 year history in studying and learning about vintage and antique clothing, far outliving other jobs I have had (cook, baker, buyer, manager) and I still completely enjoy the hunt for finery, especially for things I haven't yet run across. I have many contacts in this trade and I am busy making more since my move to the California coast; a wonderful 'second prize' in lieu of a life in Paris! That is not the story; it's the tip of the iceberg, but will have to do for now.

Thanks so much for coming and perusing the things in my Etsy shop! I have also maintained a site on Ebay for the past 15 years, where I now mostly sell newer women's boutique clothing, specializing in linen clothing which I love. My seller name there is 140years. I try to sell what I love and am attracted to on both sites.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept paypal as my payment method.
Shipping
I ship via USPS priority mail with tracking within the US, and via USPS with tracking internationally as well. I am prompt with shipping because I know once you purchase you will be eager to receive your items.
Refunds and Exchanges
I cannot offer returns on the items I sell; everything is vintage or antique, and I do my very best to accurately describe any flaws or issues they might have. In almost every case garments will be sound and wearable, but in some instances might benefit from dry cleaning or pressing. If I consider them to be too fragile to wear safely I will include that important information in the listing.
Additional policies and FAQs
I provide bust, waist, hip and length measurements on all my clothing. Two important things to know is that your body measurements should be slightly smaller, by about two inches in most cases, from the garment's so that you can move around freely when wearing it. The second is that a bust measurement is NOT the same as a bra measurement. Bust measurements are the circumference of your chest including your breasts while bra measurements are taken just beneath the breasts. In any case, big difference! I am always happy to take additional measurements or photos for you.
