Announcement   Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to check out what I have to offer! My name is Shelly James, and I am 28 years old. I am a Middle School Special Education teacher and I love to paint in my spare time!

I love, love, LOVE color! Most of my artwork is very vibrant, and also very textured. This is where I came up with the name "Color You Can Feel." I love painting because it is fun and relaxing for me. It's a way for me to get out of my head, and onto a canvas. And now I have decided to share my artwork with you all! I hope you like what you see.

All of the artwork that you see in my shop are original paintings done with acrylic paint on canvas. There will be some mixed media here and there. I would also like you to know that all of the paintings you see are made to order. These are all paintings I have done in the past, and they can all be customized. So if you see something you like, but it's the wrong color, remember that I can create your piece with any color scheme you would like!

Thanks again for visiting, and check back soon because I will be consistently adding new pieces!

I stalked this painting on here for a while and finally bought it for myself as a bday present this year. I'm even more in love with it now that I have it in my hands. Thank you for the beautiful art!

About

A colorful adventure.

I've always had a creative drive within me. When I was younger it came through music. I loved playing my piano and because of this I developed a love and appreciation for music that will never fade.

I also began drawing when I was very young. I was always doodling whenever I could and I kept a sketch book with me while I was in school so I could draw in my free time. One day when I was in high school, I decided to try painting because both my mother and sister were painters. I must say that it lacked something to be desired. I thought to myself at that time that I would just stick to drawing. I seemed to be better at it.

As time went on I finished school and began college. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Not only was it a career that I knew I could be proud of and that would mean something, I knew it was a career in which I could be creative. This meant so much to me. I have loved teaching from the very moment I taught my very first lesson. Although I had a lot to learn, I just knew I had made the right decision. I still feel that way today. :)

When I finally decided that I wanted to try painting again, I was hesitant. I wasn't sure if it was something I'd be good at, but I thought I would go for it again and practice. I was a freshman in college, living in a cheap apartment, and for my birthday one of my friends bought me my first canvas. I painted a fairy I found in a DIY art book. I LOVED it! I thought it turned out wonderfully and I had so much fun doing it!

Since then, my talent and style has grown and changed. I am more of an abstract artist and I believe in strong vibrant colors. I also love adding texture to my paintings. I feel like it helps add a movement to them that brings them to life. I really enjoy living a creative life. It adds a joy that I can't describe. I also love creating the soundtrack that I will listen to while I paint! Music definitely helps me get in the mood and mindset to paint. It keeps my flow going.

2011 was the year I painted my first commissioned painting. It was for a lady I worked with. She was so supportive of what I did and really motivated me to make something happen with my artwork. She gave me the confidence I needed to open up my Etsy shop! I opened it up on December 26, 2011.

What a journey it has been since! I have sold several pieces from my shop and also through acquaintances and advertising on Facebook.

There is something so very cool about knowing that a piece of your artwork is getting shipped across the country to hang in someone's home. What an honor it is!

I would be honored to do the same for you. Just send me a message about any painting! Even if you have an idea you want to run past me! I am up for pretty much anything! I take the time and care to make every painting beautiful. I want you to fall in love with the artwork you receive. Please take a look through my shop and I hope you enjoy my artwork!
