This hat is fantastic! It is beautifully crafted. It is cute and weird and soft. It was shipped immediately and wrapped in paper and ribbon. Outstanding purchase.

I started Shibby in 2002, naming the business after one of my most favourite stupid films, 'Dude, Where's My Car?' mainly because I thought it would be funny so no there was no deep meaning behind my shop name. I started off customising plain t-shirts and I had a stall on Camden’s Lock Market during one summer. It was all a bit basic, but hey it was a start.

Eventually, and I have no idea how this happened, I ended up falling into the hair extensions business and did pretty damn well in this industry for a good long while. It was fun designing dreadlocks for people, learning different techniques and playing with colour combinations.

After a couple of years, as the market started to become quite saturated I decided to go to university to study Fashion and Textiles. Now I’ve graduated, I am hoping to take this somewhere.

I love anything out of the ordinary and I adore people who aren’t scared of dressing up and standing way out from the crowd. My design work totally reflects this ethos. I try to be as eco-lovey as possible, whether it’s recycling fabrics/clothing, using organic products or just being very aware of waste.

Most of my work is pretty costume based, not that it’s always something you’d only be able to wear on stage, then again I believe some famous dead guy once said “All the world’s a stage” right? I just mean that my work is not the sort of thing you’d normally find in your usual high street shops. I make things that are one of a kind so no fear of clashing outfits at the Christmas do.

My inspirations? Japanese Street Fashion, anime, historical costume, pirates, Tim Burton movies and anything that is either really cute or totally macabre (preferably a mix of both). I adore Tim Burton for his amazingly creative mind, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood as amazing designers/artists and my style idols are Gwen Stefani, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Lady Gaga.

Hello lovely folk of Etsyland ^-^

Welcome to SHIBBY - the home of handmade or upcycled one of a kind clothes and accessories. I'm a fashion graduate with a love of all sorts including Japanese street fashion, textiles, cutesy kitsch, hippy stuff and faery themes so you will find a whole mix of stuff in my store.

My promise is that anything you buy will be totally and utterly unique, whether it's a subtle change of colour or a totally one off upcycled pair of trousers. So whatever you buy, you will be the only person in the world with that exact item. The only time this may not apply is for a 'Made to Order' item as it is up to the customer what fabric is chosen and two of you out there may just have the same taste ^ ^

I try my best to be as eco-friendly as possible whether it be using recycled fabrics/clothing or just being very aware of waste.

Bear with me slightly while I get myself up off the ground. I promise I will add as many products as I can find the time to make.
