My daughter encouraged me to open Shiny Penny Shop after I made her a pendant featuring her little Havanese, Henry.
I get inspiration from daily walks along the American River Parkway.

Handmade Art Treasures to Brighten Your Day

I've been drawing, painting and working with paper since childhood, but didn't start focusing on a creative life until my daughter asked me a question. I had made her a pendant with a watercolor portrait of her little Havanese dog, Henry. She loved it! And she said, "Why don't you open an Etsy shop and sell these?" So I did! Since then, I quit my day job and do what I love full time.

I work on whatever level surface is available in our little bungalow in the historic district of a small gold rush town in northern California. Inspiration is all around me, including the American River Parkway where I take daily walks, and the old main street with buildings dating to 1865. When I'm not creating, I enjoy time with my husband, kids, and grandkids; traveling; writing; reading; and learning.

I have interests in many areas, but the natural world, including plants, animals and humans, intrigues me. I hope my art conveys the mystery and magic of it all.
