Frequently asked questions
Shipping Materials
We recycle and upcycle whenever possible, including re-using shipping materials. This includes, but is not limited to bubble wrap, envelopes, boxes, and tissue. You may receive packing materials from other businesses and companies if they are in good condition and appropriately sized for your purchase. Please recycle or re-use these materials as well. We take great care to pack your items carefully to protect the items from damage in shipping.
Gift wrapping and packaging
We don't currently offer gift wrap or specialty packaging; however, if you are purchasing a gift, please let us know if we are shipping it to you or to the recipient. If to the recipient, we will gladly include a handwritten note! Just select the "This is a gift" option and let us know what the note should say. We can write up to about 25 words per note. We have great handwriting and grew up receiving all the handwriting awards at school! We NEVER include receipts or invoices, even for non-gifts, as these are readily available in your Etsy account -- save a tree!
Does ShopTheJUnkDrawer ship outside the USA?
Unfortunately, we do not ship outside the United States due to the costs of shipping and due to the challenges to international mail delivery as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, you can find download-and-print coloring pages, stationery, and more in our sister shop, http://marblesandjam.etsy.com which are available internationally as they don't involve any shipping at all -- you download them and print them wherever you are!
Custom and personalized orders
We do not currently offer customization or personalization. However, if you have an idea that you think we might be able to handle for you, please reach out! Maybe we can find a way to work together! In the past, we have done hand lettered invitations and wedding favors (delivered as a printable file). We also keep a list of customer requests that we keep in mind when thrifting or going to estate sales -- if there's something special you are looking for, let us know and we can keep you posted if we find it!
Tracking
We offer tracking, for free, on all items and orders over $10. We also offer tracking on a limited number of items valued at under $10. It is your responsibility to read the item description fully to understand if your under $10 item includes tracking or not. For items under $10 that do NOT include tracking with free shipping, you do have the option to select a shipping upgrade for an added cost of $3.80 to include tracking. Please read descriptions carefully.
Damaged items
We sell a lot of vintage or antique. It is common for these to have some damage. We make every effort to show in photos and/or describe in descriptions what the damage is, where it is, and how extensive it is. We do NOT accept refunds for damage visible in photos -- even if we didn't mark it -- nor for any damage that is described in the listing. It is your responsibility to read the listing fully and carefully. YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 24 HOURS OF RECEIVING YOUR ITEM TO DISCUSS DAMAGE AND RESOLUTION. If we agree to a refund, you MUST ship the item and original packaging back to us, with tracking, within 48 hours of any agreement reached. Once received we will refund the purchase and your return shipping costs -- YOU MUST INCLUDE TRACKING
Print At Home Items
Print at home items are NOT eligible for refunds; however, please let us know if you are having difficulty downloading or finding your files. Please also let us know if you have issues with file quality, opening the file, or similar. Most people have minimal issues, but every now and then technology doesn't want to cooperate. Please note, if you are downloading and printing from an iPhone, for some reason, Etsy's interface doesn't always cooperate and you may need to try several times -- though this has improved over the last two years. All of our print at home items are delivered as PDFs.
Vintage and antique items and lead content
Occasionally we are asked about lead content in items. We currently do not lead test anything in our shop. Many of the items are vintage or antique and were made before strong lead content laws were passed. It is up to you to use your best judgment in deciding whether or not to purchase these items. You retain any and all risk associated with purchasing vintage and antique goods. We are not responsible for the lead content of these items -- we did not manufacture the vintage and antique items. Many items, such as decorative plates, are explicitly not for use with food while others are perfectly safe (and even made for food). It is up to you to use your best judgment in assuming these risks.
