I've been doing something artsy-fartsy since I was old enough to hold a pencil. My artistic path was not a straight one; I tried this and that which eventually led to taking lessons from the "flower lady" in her garage. She taught us the very basics of oil painting and how to break the code of the colors we see.

One project was to paint a fox using her painting as a guide. At one point everyone was outside on break and I scanned the paintings around the room. It was as if the veils had parted and I suddenly realized I could identify which artist had painted each canvas simply by looking at the eyes of the fox. Each one of us had painted what was most familiar: ourselves. Each of us was clearly reflected in our own painting. Each interpretation was filtered through what we knew and understood the best.

I decided I would paint for me and not try to copy anyone else. My style, so to speak, was born. I tend to be very detailed, almost photographic, but with a lightness.

Life has many phases and it's reflected in creativity just as a diamond flashes with brilliance from its many facets - imagination flashes just as brightly. I hope my imagination calls to you as well and you find joy in my creations.
