About

I have been fascinated by the idea of making something, from almost nothing, my whole life.

Ever since I was a child, the realization that one could stitch together bits of fabric, or weave together strands of thread and arrive at something solid, tangible, beautiful, functional, or simply joyful has always held immense interest for me.

As a textile and mixed media artist, I get the privilege of focusing on the continuing exploration and creative expression of all that delights, intrigues, and inspires my curiosity...

I am strongly attracted to that which is old, patched, worn and layered, and I have a deep affection for the surrounding rural area of where I live. Japanese boro cloth, Korean pogaji and India kantha embroidery, all thrill and inspire me. Vintage hooked rugs, and old Pennsylvania Dutch Frakturs fill me with endless design possibilities.

However, on the flip side, I am also attracted to clean lines and timeless design. I adore mid-century modern as well as Swedish design and sensibility. Throw in a love of old Sci-Fi B movies, children's book illustrations, and a curiosity of amoebas and fungi, and you have a basis for almost everything I have ever made!

(I suppose that makes me a bit of a living patchwork of interests, or a woven cloth of many threads. But that's what most of us are aren't we?!)

Please know that originality and excellent craftsmanship are always of the utmost importance to me. My work is handmade solely by myself, and I truly care about what I make and that it is well made. It is my sincere hope that when others own, hold, and view my work, that they feel something... a bit of comfort, a spark of joy, a happy connection of some sort... to their own creativity... to knowing that they are not alone. A reminder that they themselves are a unique patch, an important stitch, and an unbreakable thread in this cloth called life.
