Announcement   This is the place to find all sorts of bling for your string!

You will find shawl pins, buttons, stitch markers and jewelry made with silver, silver clay (precious metal clay) and semi precious stones and beads.

At Silver Purl we’ve been creating distinctive designs by joining metal clay, beads including agates, jasper and semi precious stones, lustrous pearls and fiber together since 2001.

My main medium is silver clay, also known as precious metal clay. Metal clay is made with reclaimed and recycled metals such as silver, bronze and copper. It starts as mold-able clay like polymer clay. I can form it to my desired shape and texture then it is fired in a kiln where the binder is burned off, the heat binds the silver molecules together and the final product is a stunning piece made of 99.5% pure silver.

A new edition to Silver Purl is fingerprint jewelry. This is such a delightful way to capture your child’s youth. Using a mold we take an imprint of the thumb and then transfer this impression into silver metal clay. This makes a wonderful gift for any parent and grandparent.

A woman’s cooperative in Uganda supplies wonderful beads created from recycled magazines in a stunning array of colors, shapes and sizes. These beads are extremely lightweight and no two ever alike. Other suppliers make felt balls by hand and I drill holes in river rock found on my travels.

The artistic spirit behind Silver Purl is Karie Galvin, a Northwest artist living in Portland, OR. She searches for ways to use ordinary objects in new ways and looks to the simple beauty of nature and the craft community for inspiration for her ever evolving designs. This includes many designs which bring elegance to any knitting project.

Much of our jewelry is one of a kind pieces or limited edition. Please contact us if you have an idea in mind, we may be able to create exactly what you desire.

Custom orders welcome.

Thank you for choosing this piece of Silver Purl jewelry. We hope you enjoy your wearable art!
