One thing leads to another.
Hi! I'm Jessee J. Smith, designer and maker of all the jewelry you'll see here at Silverspot Metalworks. I have loved gems, minerals, and shiny things since I was a child, and I've been making jewelry since I was a teenager. Beadwork was my earliest jewelry obsession, and I still feel "the call of the beads." A series of metalsmithing classes in college introduced me to the joys of working with silver, copper, and brass, and gave me the skills to turn stones into wearable jewelry pieces.
One of the best things about metalsmithing is that there's always something new to learn. I am always looking forward to my next workshop and building my repertoire of techniques, while pushing the limits of my existing skills. I especially love saw piercing and techniques that go well with it, such as overlay designs and married metals.
I draw inspiration for my designs from the natural world (particularly insects) and from ancient cultures, as well as the modernist aesthetic that has been so well embodied in Scandanavian jewelry.
Thank you for visiting my shop, and I hope you'll enjoy what you see here! To see more of what I do, please take a moment to visit my other Etsy shop, SilverspotStudio, where you'll find a range of esoteric designs made using the lost-wax process.

Returns and exchange details
If you want to make an exchange or return, please contact me as soon as possible upon receipt of your order. To receive a full refund, your item must be returned in its original packaging and in the same condition that it left the studio. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
I take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of all my work, and each piece that leaves the studio must therefore be as good as I can make it. I guarantee all of my jewelry against damage or breakage due to flaws in materials or workmanship, and will repair or replace any defective piece. This doesn't, of course, cover damage resulting from unusual abuse (say, dropping your pendant into the garbage disposal). While fine jewelry should be treated with a certain amount of care, all of my pieces are made to last for generations.

Shipping Methods
--------------------------
I ship all items by USPS First Class Mail; shipping for items over $25 includes insurance. If you would like other arrangements or if you need expedited shipping, please convo me before placing your order.
Most orders placed during the week will ship within 24–36 hours of payment completion; orders placed during the weekend will generally go out on Monday mornings. If there is any reason that an order cannot be shipped within that time frame, I will contact you as soon as possible.

International Customers
----------------------------------
International orders will be shipped via insured First Class International Mail.
IMPORTANT: The full value of the order will be declared on the customs form. Please DO NOT choose “Mark as Gift” when purchasing; it will have no bearing on customs fees. Marking an item as a gift is not possible when using Etsy's shipping system, and it is a violation of Federal law.
I have no control over, or any way of predicting, the customs fees and procedures of the destination country.
International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees levied by the destination country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so please check your country's customs website for further information. Customs clearance procedures may cause delays beyond the estimated delivery date.

Custom Orders
-----------------------
Do you have a design in mind for a special piece of jewelry - perhaps a specific symbol or a stone that holds a unique meaning for you or a loved one? I take pleasure in working with customers to create meaningful custom jewelry pieces. Please send me a convo and let me know what you have in mind!
I will develop sketches or digital images of your concept and work with you to realize your idea. Once a design has been chosen, I will create a custom order listing for you in my shop. Payment in advance covers the cost of materials and the time spent on design development; you may choose to pay the full amount in advance, or if you prefer, a 50% deposit with the balance payable upon the completion of your custom order.
Please note: I retain all intellectual property rights to custom designs.
