Musings in Metal
Making art and specifically art jewelry is my way of interpreting the world around me in tangible form. I am influenced by everything I come across, especially nature, often using found objects in my work.
I am particularly pleased that my work goes out into the world by way of the adornment of a moving body rather than waiting for the world to find it on a stationary structure.
I work from two studios on opposite sides of the world; South Bend, IN, USA from May through October and Hahei, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand from November through April.
Changing studios every six months is challenging in regards to supplies, inventory, shipping and keeping my etsy shop up to date. However, I feel extremely lucky to live by two very large bodies of water, the Sea and the Great Lakes, and my work is strongly influenced by them.
I like to work in series creating bodies of work that develop a specific theme. Each piece, although similar to others, is unique due to the handmade process or the natural materials incorporated into it. Due to the production technique, the kelp rings and bracelets are especially unique, cannot be duplicated, and thus are one of a kind.
It is important to me to have my creative hand work in each and every piece that I sell.
