SimplyPallets is taking a short break

Note from shop owner It's the end of an era. After over eight years, Matt and I decided that it is time to close the store part of Simply Pallets. The clothing line (www.BarefootBabyClothing.com) has been growing exponentially and we can no longer do both. The last few months have been hard. We have no help, so just managing the kids is hard enough. Trying to also maintain the businesses has been next to impossible. The joy has gone and stress has taken it's place, leading us to this choice. Is it possible we might open in some capacity in the future? Yes. But for now, we will be focusing on the clothing line. I'm finishing the few paintings I have in queue tomorrow and that will be it.

It turned out great. I was a bit frustrated because I asked the seller if it would arrive on time before the wedding. It arrived the day of which was great, but I didn't receive any communication from the seller so I just had to hope.

I felt the quality was not what was advertised and the order arrived broken. The seller immediately responded and work to make it right. I received a replacement and it definitely met expectation. Customer service is hard to find now days and I very much appreciate that the vendor went above and beyond to meet my expectations. Thank you. Original Review. Arrived broken. Eight Years of Making

During the summer of 2014 Matt and Alyssa were both working in an office in Connecticut. Days were filled with messages back and forth, and one day Matt sent Alyssa a picture of a pallet wine rack he found on Pinterest. "I can build this," he said. A few hours after work Alyssa got a text from Matt with a picture of the finished wine rack. Within a couple weeks he had built his first coffee table and Alyssa figured out she could paint on pallet wood with wood stain. Friends and family confirmed- they were on to something.

Soon people were asking to purchase pieces. The hobby continued as a side gig, while Alyssa and Matt made plans to sell most of their belongings and move to North Carolina where they would work and Alyssa could pursue a PhD program. Real jobs never came, and the school year never started. From September 2014 forward, Simply Pallets was their full time career.

Today, after much trial and error, moves, failures and triumphs, Alyssa and Matt are still doing what they love, now as a family. Living in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, their love of making has spread from Pallet decor to include a lifestyle of hiking, gardening, and raising farm animals with their children and dog. Together the couple works to create pieces inspired by their surroundings, in the hopes of sharing their love of nature and simple living with the world.
