Announcement   I've enjoyed sewing since I was very young and mostly sew for the fun of it these days; most of my energy goes into raising my kids. They have taken an interest in sewing now, too, so it seems we've always got a different project in the works.

About

Passing Along Skills to Another Generation

I remember the hum of my grandma's sewing machine. From an early age I was drawn toward sewing doll clothes and pillows, then as I grew older I made my own figure skating costumes and prom dresses. When I moved out on my own I found I made curtains and items for my home. Always sewing. Babies came along and I ventured into the realm of cloth diapers and wool longies. Now, as a mother of four, the focus is on teaching my own kids to sew. The girls are learning how to make bibs and upcycled jean purses, and are eager to make their first Etsy sales! As their teacher and mother, I must let go of my perfectionism. The items they make may not be expertly stitched, but they are handmade with care. And more importantly, they are learning important life skills as they measure, cut, sew, find the right price-point and take pride in a job well done.

I'm Mary, and I live in Denver, Colorado, where the sun shines over 300 days of the year. I’ve enjoyed sewing since I was very young, and I'm quite skilled. But now it's mostly just a hobby; I've got 4 kids under 9 years of age and they take up most of my time and creative energy. When I'm feeling artsy I head for my sewing machine and list new items here in my shop.

I've diapered all my kids in cloth. Wool diaper covers are my favorite, especially those made from upcycled sweaters.

Thank you for choosing Simply Sunny!

Additional policies and FAQs
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
**Wool covers and longies: Use Eucalan Wool Wash and follow instructions on the bottle. Wool diaper covers should be lanolized; there are many places on the web where you can find out how.

**PUL diaper covers: After removing from Baby, secure the laundry (Hook and Loop) tabs so that the hooks don’t catch on other items in the wash. Use a zero residue or unscented detergent (such as Country Save). Wash on Hot. Dry in the dryer or on the line.

Never use fabric softeners or dryer sheets on cloth diapers. Do not use bleach on PUL or Minkee covers. Hang in the sun to remove stains.
