Announcement   I am happy for you to purchase from my shop but I will not be dispatching any parcels between September 23rd and October 3rd. Please be patient or do not buy during that period; I will be away but will monitor the shop.

My shop sells an eclectic mix of vintage and antique objects. I am interested in anything unique and unusual: my special interests are books, textiles, vintage fashion and jewellery, photographs, postcards, all paper ephemera, and Japanese objects.

I'm especially interested in rescuing things that have personal significance, for example unusual Australiana, particularly from the Barossa Valley where my mother's family comes from. I collect things that have come from other immigrant groups to Australia as well: for example, the Italians, Romanians, and Scandinavians. I love the stories that come with the objects; in fact, that's what I love the most about Etsy ... the stories. I make every effort to provide the buyer with information regarding the provenance and history of each item, but if I don't know it I might just make it up!

My background is in creative and academic writing, painting, photography, design and collage. I have recently closed my other Etsy shop virgomoon88 which sold hand made postcards, collages, and paintings, as well as handmade, up-cycled and re-purposed items. There is a Facebook page for Virgo Moon Artist which showcases my art and collage.

I will be opening another Etsy shop in the future, and will announce its name on this page.

I recently sold through a vintage and antique stall Anthologie at The Mill in Daylesford, Victoria, Australia. This shop has now closed, but contact me for information about larger items from Anthologie. I still have a number of Japanese and other items for sale.

Please feel free to CONTACT ME if there is anything that you are looking for; I just might be able to find it!

PLEASE NOTE: Australian postage rates rise several times a year, so I will be adjusting my prices accordingly. Please contact me for exact shipping rates from Australia, also for express delivery and tracking, which cost extra. Please read my POLICIES statement.

About

The theme of my shop is simple: recycle, recycle, recycle. Learn to love distressed beauty.

I began my shop after moving from an enormous house on Mt Dandenong near Melbourne in Australia into a smaller house with little storage. I used to visit my boxes of vintage stuff in the shed where they now lived, sadly look at things and then pack them away again. I began my Etsy shop when my son suggested that I should start to de-clutter. We don't always listen to our children, but in this case I knew he was right. A year later I moved into a townhouse in the city and I was so glad I had begun the process of letting things go. I now have a small studio in Avondale Heights for my vintage shop and art work.

After selling my own things quite successfully, I went on a buying trip to the Barossa Valley in South Australia. This is a place that has personal significance; it is where my mother was born and got married. I began to realise that things with a story and often historical significance interested me more than random beautiful objects. Things inherited from my Italian-Romanian mother-in-law, like postcards and books, sometimes appear in my shop too.

I want to share my interesting finds with other people. I love to receive comments from people, and I love it when you favourite my items. Please tell me if there is something you have been looking for, and I will try to find it.

Collecting is fun, but so is selling. Etsy is a great platform for collectors and sellers to come together and share their passion. I now have a real, live, physical shop as well in Daylesford at The Mill Market; it's called "Anthologie" and stocks larger items, some Japanese and some industrial. If you live in Melbourne, please visit The Mill or contact me for further information. You can see my art work on my Facebook page Virgo Moon Artist.

Welcome to my shop, and I hope you have as much fun browsing as I did finding all these items.
I aim to explain as much as I can about each item, but sometimes I just don't know as much as I would like to, so your feedback is always welcome.
I love things that are in original and often worn or distressed condition, and I will always point out these things in my item description.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Buy with Apple Pay
  • Pay with Sofort
  • Pay with iDeal
  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I prefer payment by PayPal because it protects you, the customer. Payment must be made in full before I ship the item, unless you have requested a payment scheme. If you live in Australia, a direct bank deposit into my account can be arranged.
Shipping
I will ship to any country, but please contact me if the shipping cost appears to be too high and I will ship by sea mail which is cheaper, but of course takes longer.
If you wish to pay more for registered mail that can be arranged.
If you purchase two or more items from my shop, discount postage can be arranged.
Refunds and Exchanges
You should expect the item to arrive within 7 to 10 working days from Australia by ordinary airmail. Please note that if you choose the sea mail option it will take longer; please be patient. This will be explained when you contact me.

I charge $2 for packing and handling; if the postage quoted is too high I will refund the difference minus this $2 fee. All refunds will be through PayPal immediately.

You are entitled to a full refund ONLY if the item has been grossly misrepresented in my listing. I cannot be responsible if the item is misplaced or damaged (unless I have packed it badly) after posting. I will however respond if this happens, and treat each case differently. I believe in negotiation.

I will not refund postage costs as I am a small business, but may refund for the item as mentioned above.

I urge you to purchase insurance to protect against loss or damage to the item; there are several options through Australia post. Please contact me. However, I have only had one problem with a lost item in three years of trading, and even this item turned up after almost a year!
